  1. printing on chrome

all depends on what your idea of cheap is...haha but if you get a polyester chrome materials it's cheaper than the r-tape versions. polymet brilliant metalized polyester film is one
  2. printing on chrome

your best bet like already mentioned is to print using a UV printer but R-tape does have chrome material that is coated (basically it's laminated with clear vinyl so solvent ink will stick to it) R-tape EFX i believe its called we have used it in our roland ecosolvent machines with no problems
  3. TrueVis VG2-540 red and orange wont print

long story short, we have an LG-640, the UV version with orange and red which are not running due to issues on rolands end so there is a profile called "generic sign production (CMYK)" and if you chose that option you should be able to rpint in cmyk mode until you get the other channels fixed
  4. Window Film Solution

when you say silver reflective do you mean mirror/chrome finish? if so you can print on clear and back it with the chrome material (just replacing your normal white backer with the chrome)
  5. 5 Layers - Window Cling - 2 sided see through text

no doubt if your printer is giving you the output you need for the job definitely better way to go. just giving an option to get them out of a bind. another option would be to silk screen the job. silk screen inks are more opaque than digital inks. fortunately for use we do both digital and silk...
  6. Wholesaler for clean detailed decals - anybody have a favorite source?

what types of decals and quantities are you printing. maybe consider going to silk screened
  7. 5 Layers - Window Cling - 2 sided see through text

you still print your white for the mirrored side so should be ok but if that is an issue use something with a clear adhesive. back when i had to do that we were printing with the roland LEJ uv printer and didn't have an issue
  8. 5 Layers - Window Cling - 2 sided see through text

if it's that critical and you can't get the black opaque enough you can print one mirrored on clear material and print one on white pressure sensitive material, maybe something with a gray adhesive for extra block out and mount them together. more material and labor but it will get you where you...
  9. Weird quirky story

not sure that is specific to realtors just the way some people are. i have a few customers that question every little thing. they order something years ago and expect it to be the same price or they order a higher qty like 100 or 500 and then order 25 or 50 and expect to have the same pricing...
  10. No Pantone But Client Wants "Color Match" - what does your shop do?

we always get a target color, whether that is closest pms color (picked by customer) or they give us a swatch to match. then we will make a couple sample color swatches for them to pic from. first go around will be figured in the cost but each additional will cost extra
  11. Issues Cutting Foam Core

just throwing stuff at the wall to see if it sticks but... could something be out of alignment with the cutter. maybe the bed or the cutter unit. something off level or not running on the track properly. based on all the trouble shooting you have done already might want to have a tech come in...
  12. Wrap Adhesive Issue

i wrapped a couple vending machines for a customer who told me he had the material already. got it on amazon and it was this vivid vinyl. i didn't care for it. luckily it all flat surfaces so wasn't too bad but it's definitely no 3M or Avery that's for sure. i told him going forward if he wanted...
  13. Who Has The Best Inks?

we have a fuji/acuity UV, EFI pro 16h uv and roland uv. i found that the roland uv inks have been the best all around as far as what they stick to and the fuji/acuity is worst of the 3. the fuji ink if we run it on coro we need to run the sheets through our silk screen uv dryers to cure them a...
  14. Chrome vinyl best for small letters

probably want to use the R-tape vinylEFX it's a vinyl coated polyester material so it's a little thicker and won't rip so easy. if you get the polyester material that tares real easy and you want to try and stay with a simple font like helvetica or Ariel. anything with fine seriffs will also...
  15. Not sure if this is the correct category.................................................................................

i did a big sign job for a car dealership last year and they were adamite about not needing permits. basically they didn't want to wait and go through all the red tape so i drew up a contract that had all kinds of wording making them liable for any fines and or costs if we had to take it down...
