  1. Bid package nightmare

Agree with the others... this is the norm for very big contracts. Many 6 figure and larger project will require days of work and 10+ page proposals to "maybe" get the high bid. Also stuff like 6 printed hard copies, 1 electronic copy in PDF format, price proposal as a separate document, etc. Do...
  2. Rate my very first sign

Layout is not terrible. Not a bad start for a first timer. The mistakes are really all just in install techniques. Even with the crap vinyl you could have gotten that on without wrinkles, bubbles, and perfectly straight. Just need to get some experience and learn some techniques. Typically if I...
  3. UPS Power Supply and Surge Protection for printers?

Dual Eaton 9130, both with 3 EBM (extended battery modules). One is just for the printer, cutter, and RIP system. Nice if you are 10 feet into a 20 foot print on expensive 48" 3M 680 and it can finish the print... It can keep the printer and RIP going for about 45 minutes. The other keeps the...
  4. WANTED - Edge 1, 2 or FX

I have an Edge LE in South Carolina I'd sell. Also have a bunch of ribbons to go with it. Problem would be the distance from you though.... I really do not want to try and box it up. It did run fine the last time I used it which was probably 5 years ago.
  5. TX ONYX V10

I have the full blown Production House 12.0.5 that I'd sell. I have both the installation software (with a ton of of the drivers) and the security dongle. I'd sell it for $650.
  6. Printing Decals with certain opacity

What jfiscus said.... To go further, no idea on latex inks but on solvent and ecosolvent inks they are by nature transparent. So for example if you print on clear vinyl, you can see right through the printed areas.
  7. mimaki cjv30 error 202 device construction and print head not firing at all

    V3.30 attached..... good luck.
  8. Customer wet applied wrap material

Agree with the others on edge taping.... trim it and add the tape. But yeah - if a customer gets graphics that they want to install themselves we always tell them that the warranty ends the second we hand them the material with a quick explanation why.
  9. DMCA takedown notice phishing scheme

Even taking the end off the URL - the luhuhu domain by itself just redirects and forcibly downloads a .js Javascript file.... I'm taking it apart out of curiosity. So far though it tries to use WMI (Windows Management Interface) calls to determine your network map and then attach and map your...
  10. Pinch Rollers not detected on cutter

I've been using Flexi for 20 years and have never heard of Flexi having any sort of ability to update the firmware on a device before??? Its an independent software not specifically related to any brand of hardware (sometimes gets a limited version bundled with some devices though). Typically...
  11. mimaki cjv150 print head and pump problem

Likely will not be any issues with it. We have a JV150 (basically the same printer without the cutter is all) that sat in its crate in our bay for 3 years before we finally opened it up and it works perfectly fine and the bay sometimes will have large temperature swings from as low as about 45...
  12. What are some ways to show gratitude to past clients?

For a few specific customers who you get to know well and you know something specific they like then a more personal gift can be excellent. As an example but coming to me - I had mentioned at some point in conversation with our old Fellers sales rep (Ann Poole - she was totally awesome) that I...
  13. What material is this?

Either hand laid gold on sizing or possibly Realgold (or Signgold) Florentine would be a good substitute.....
  14. Possible bad batch of 3M 180CV3

Well ours was finally resolved.... sent 3M samples (they provided a shipping label) of the defective material back when I first posted about this. Finally were refunded for for the defective rolls plus a roll of lam for the roll we printed. Of course nothing for the ink, time wasted, etc... but...
  15. Digital Print Material for Garage Doors

We have used cast high tack for that pebble textured stuff before. Use a rollepro and heat gun to work it into the texture.
  16. Need Help Saving in PS as a tiff thats over the 4gb limit

If 300 dpi at 1/4 scale then it will make a final resolution of 75 dpi at full size which should be fine. I just tested myself to see using 202x78.5 inches at 300dpi. RGB mode, flattened, and saved as a tiff with LZW compression. Blank white file was only 16mb. Added a random fairly complex...
  17. Moldy vinyl?

Then why is it also doing that on the unprinted white areas and also still looks perfect at the edge that was under the trim?
  18. Possible bad batch of 3M 180CV3

Bump to see if anyone else has been having issues..... we got some in for a contract install from another company and had a similar issue. Not quite as aggressive and the rolls we had but still moreso than normal and another issue we ran into was the unprinted white areas would break and tear...
  19. News Save $ on JetBest Ink

I wouldn't necessarily say delete the thread but maybe state. Found this but before I can really recommend it let me try it for a couple of months and will come back and update when I'm certain its the real deal or not.
  20. Question side by side not working out

Agree with Eric. Too much going on and impossible to wrap those in one piece. Some of those parts are going to require inlays and seams. Do the inlays first. Like that first pic - the inner corner with the flat bottom above the rectangle hole, impossible to do that as one piece.
