How far can I run a USB connection?

I am trying to get everything setup for the new JV3. The tech says the firewire connection to the printer can be no more than 10 feet. OK, got that figured out, but that puts the cutter about 25 feet away(along the walls that the cable will need to run). I am only seeing 16' cables listed, but some of the are "extension" cables with some kind of booster at the female end. Can I run a 16' cable to the 16' booster cable & be OK?

USB 2.0 Spec is 5 meters.

Most versions of Firewire is 4 meters.

I picked up an Extension Cable for our Mutoh with an Amplifier, 26 feet works perfect.
