Short of going with dye sub, which I've tried, and it's just too much of a PITA (you can have any color shirt you want with this design, just so long as that color's white...), what do you like for transfer material?

I've used plastisol transfers from Silver Mountain, preprinted stuff from ProWorld, etc., etc... I like the plastisol on light stuff okay.

However, trying to do digital (Epson 1280) was a pain... On lights, there was trimming, but hey, that's okay. The transfer felt pretty much okay. Then I tried some other stuff (jetprint?) that was supposed to work on darks - more peeling, intermediate sheets, and the transfer felt like you were wearing a sheet of plastic.

Does anyone know a cuttable digital print (either Epson 1280, 9800 or Mutoh Eco Sol Ultra) that's got a minimal hassle factor (production...) that also has a nice quality feel to it?

Boogie,
We use "Stahls Cad-Cut Thermofilm" from beacon graphics for our one color transfers (names, numbers, etc..) It works great in our cutter.

For printed transfers we use "ColorPrint Heat Transfer Media" by Specialty Materials, also from beacon graphics. We print it on our mutoh (eco sol)and then die cut it on our plotter. Works very well.

As for the feel, you will never get a printed transfer to feel as good as dye-sub. As you know, dye-sub dyes the shirt and basically becomes part of the fabric. Transfers sit on top of the fabric and will always have a plastic type feel to them.

Hopefully this helped a little.

For your solvent printer, I like Solutions clear for light colors and Solutions Opaque for dark colors.

For a desktop inkjet printer, I like Jetflex Premium for light colors and i don;t care for any paper that I've tested for dark colors.
