What material do you use to install acrylic plaques to wooden office doors? It has to be a tape type installation.

I was told by a competitor to use double stick banner tape and I did, it feel off and it is small, 2"x10". Is the 3M proven for this application?

vhb stands for Very Heavy bond
I'm not the biggest fan of banner tape because I've had some worthless tape. Sounds like you may have also, but the surfaces both need to be clean and free of any oils. If this wood door is oily, then it may be a problem for any adhesive, otherwise vhb tape is holding up larger heavier acrylic plaques all over the world.

VHB...( or HELL tape I've also heard it called before )
If the wood door has an oil type sealer on it then no tape will stick. You may have to go with some nice looking screws.

Use the right material for the job.
Foam tape is what you need and there's a chance you may not need VHB because the signs are so small. 3M makes several grades and thicknesses of tape, depending on the materials you're bonding together. So, check out their web site or contact your sign supplier for the right tape to use.
Some banner tape is ok if you applying to a gloss, non-porus surface. I may use it when applying to small signs to glass or smooth plastic.
