A few years back when i worked for this unmentioned sign company we had done this job(in like 20 degree weather) on windows on the front of a business. These windows are large and the guy wanted to fill them up with what he sold.

The sign we did(not my design) for the most part sucked. The designer scaled every word almost to the point of not recreating it. and each word is diff....now several years later the sign has been change and has several diff colors on it.

Would you think it would be unethical to go to the store owner and give him a price on myself redoing the job so that it is more uniformed?

I don't know that it is a free country, but I don't think it is unethical to approach them with a better solution.
Cheers!

Go get it! You don't work for them anymore, and they would snake you in a heartbeat! Believe that.

i dont understand how that would be unetical.. thus is free enterprise.. and i would make sure to let them know you have been in it ahwhile and you can make it look alot more attractive

You should go for it. A professional layout and a straight forward approach is definitely ethical!

The only things that would be in your way as far as an ex-employer's customer base goes would be a non-compete agreement or a trade secret acknowledgement (generally only used for sales people). If you signed either of these then you should not approach customers of the ex-employer during the time covered by the agreement. If you have signed no such documents, there is no reason for you not to seek to do business with them.

Go talk to him. He may not know that he has options. This is America!
