Has anyone printed on lexan with a UV printer with success? I would like to know if it is possible. I have an ongoing job that requires both sides to be printed and to be translucent. Currently it is done with translucent printed vinyl, laminated and mounted both sides.

Any feedback would be great.

Thx..
Dave

Out of curiosity.... doesn't one side cancel out the other when just a little light hits it ??

These are not backlit signs, they are awnings with a pattern viewed from both bottom and top.

I spoke with gerber and colorspan this past thursday about their flatbed printers. They boasted about printing directly to lexan, along with a number of other substrates.....if that helps answer your question.

Unfortunately I don't have any practical experience to share....and at 60K, I doubt I will anytime soon.

I print on Lexan faces regularly on our 9840UV. I've got 2 48"x144" I'm running today.

These aren't literally double sided though.

Gino's concern is warranted. When I first tried the double sided decals on Edge, I figured two layers of white between front & back message is sufficient. After all, it looked OK on backing paper. Until I mounted on window to find that was not good enough. Then I add black between 2 layers of white, that made the white look greyish. Finally, the silver foil did the trick.

mreffex: are you reverse printing full bleed?

if so, have you ever had a corner of the vinyl peel off?
