Drying Time Before Applying Tape?

After printing on reflective material such as 3m 680, nikkalite, etc. ...mostly small decals without lamination, about how long should I wait until applying clear transfer tape? This tape could stay on these decals for 6 months or more prior to being applied.

I usually wait until the next day but would like to tape and chop-up these things within a few hours of printing.

Using a Roland xc-540.
