Hello, I have a job that calls for Poly-Plastic. And, none of my distributors seem to know what it is. The signs are going to be used for DNR trail signs. Does anyone know where I can find this material?

do you mean polycarbonate? one of the name brands of polycarb is Lexan. It doesn't shatter like acrylic.

See I am not sure. All the customer said was it has to be ploy-plastic. It could be Lexan but they dont even have a sample to show me so its hard to figure out exactly what they are talking about.

Poly plastic = polymerized palstic!

It can be any of dozens of materials.

have your customer dig a lil deeper into the specs.

thay may ment a cheap PVC like material - STYRENE. It comes from 1/16 all they up to 1/4, in white, rolls or sheets, can be screend\vinyl\flatted, used for cheap short term real estate signs, wall signs, yard signs (like the alarm ones), will warp & yellow badly, may need to clear coat to add UV stability

Lexan is clear ( and white ). I would think this may be what they had in mind to be durable. It could cover trail marker signage i clear was used. PVC however in not clear, comes in colors and is brittle .Signage would have to be on outside.
Styrene is actually polysyrene. It is similar to Lexan, but not as brittle as pvc and comes in colors

Lexan also comes in white and if it's on a trail, they may have spec'd it as it won't break if some one hits it. Your customer is going to have to provide more info or a sample as it could be a ton of stuff.

The stuff you're looking for is called ColorCore. King Plastics manufactures it as well as a few other companies. Its meant to be machined on a router table.

It's polypropylene. A very flexable strong shatter proof plastic used for trai signs and gas line signs. It has to be flame treated to print and you have to use special poly inks for good adhesion. O trust that your screen printing them because you can't vinyl letter them. Same type of plastic on dirt bikes.
