I've got to letter a pace truck for a car company to be used at the local tracks in this area. After this summer, they would like to be able to remove all the vinyl, and be able to sell this truck.

What vinyl would you recommend to be easily removed after about 4-5 months? Do the economy vinyls remove easily?

I would like to incorporate some holographics into this design, but I am guessing there aren't any removable holo films.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

If your Edge printing, Gerber's Instachange is a great one. We've done some one year wraps with it and it's come off easily and clean.

Nope, I'm still "old school" and this will be layered vinyl....

The Oracal 631 is the new rage as far as removable vinyl....There are other brands now. Here are some sites that are geared towards removable vinyl.

Is the 631 much easier to remove than the 651. I've got all the colors I need in the 651, but it would be worth the small expense to buy the 631 if it removed that much easier.

Thanks

haven't used the 631 yet, but have heard a lot of it. It is manufactured for that purpose of removing without taking up the background with it.
I'm looking at it here in the catalog. It's called "Exhibition Cal" .Says not recommended for vehicles though. You may want to go with the 651 instead. It does come off easier than cast, but will stay on exterior applications for a few years.

I sell 631 to a local car dealership who puts the price up the sides of cars. They remove the lettering really easy once they have sold the cars.

This will be on a pace car and may possibly have edges pulling up. There could be problems, and slack11 already has 651. The price dif. won't really matter. It's only one car and 651 will come off, no problem. Heck, any vinyl will work for a year and come off no problem....

I just started using 631. The Oracal catalog says it has an adhesion strength less than a fourth that of 651. It appears to adhere better to smoother surfaces (to be expected). The biggest problem I have is that it sticks to the application tape better than to the substrate, I've tried each of the 4 or five different app tapes and the only way I can get it to stick to the wall instead of the app tape is to apply to the substrate, flood with application fluid and slowly peel back the app tape picking off off the letters from the app tape, one by one, as they appear. Apparently the adhesion strength of the app tape is greater than that of the 631. Any hints?

If you can find "digimask", it has a very light tack. I've found it to work well with krylon painted vinyl. It won't pull the paint off the vinyl. It may be the answer. I don't know where to find it now. I'd like to get some of it myself.....
