Can't consider one of those nice large scale printers just yet, but is there an affordable soltuion that would allow for digital prints on a smaller scale, say 15" and less?
Anyone give me a starting point to research?
Thnx

If you could find a used gerber edge, but I think they are hard to find used.

A used Gerber Edge.
The new one I purchased in 1998 has thus far grossed back about 25 times its cost. At today's used prices, while still not peanuts, a competent sign maker - businessman can easily gross back the cost in 3 to 6 months.

I would disagree. I see one or two a week coming through the for sale classifieds at various forums. Most Gerber distributors also have factory reconditioned units available ... but a bit pricey IMHO.

OK, well I checked it out. Looks like the Edge FX is the newest model. I still haven't been able to actually find a reliable price online, but the one place that did list a price pegged it at 10X what I expected. I knew I was in trouble when the Gerber site said "5 year lease now available."

You don't make clear in your post what "affordable" actually means in dollars and cents. But I would consider, just consider, a new Roland at 15K or so because if you're attracting any amount of business at all, it will quickly pay for itself.
Around here we figure that it's roughly equivalent to a full time employee. (in terms of output) Now, how are you going to beat that for $350.00 per month or so?
Anyway, I'd at least look into it, if you haven't already.
I just saw Roland 300's for under 10K.
