Do any of you tried a clear/Transparent Vinyl (solvent based) for Auto Graphics? What Brand do you use? I appreciate any suggestions. Thanks a bunch.

We just recently starting using clear, 3M, and Oracal from our digital supplier, Perfomance Sign Products. We did a bunch for a contractor who put them on a fleet, and started using on back lit signs for some applications. Print on a Roland versa cam, and I think we are using the same profile as we use for control tac. Lam and contour cut, really like the outcome for some applications.

3951 is available in clear. You can use the 3951 profile, but be aware that clear media cannot be profiled. Profiles are based upon knowing the white-point of the media. With a transparent film the profile will only help with heater, head and ink limits. Color matching is an entirely different animal.
Good luck

So far we have only used the 3M clear, checked our records and using the
3MIJ 180 C profile in the production manager for Flexi. Also at the middle of the roll we had a problem with the ink bunching up (for lack of a better term), ran out an additinal 6 feet and let it "air" out, and tried printing next day, and no problem, do know know if roll was wrapped too tight, or what happened, plan to send the media to our supplier to see if they know what the deal was.
So far we have not printed on the other clear media. Hope this helps a little,
Hal
