You guys need to do a dance-off. Like how rival street gangs in the 80's would challenge each other. You could Pop and lock, Flamey could counter with a moonwalk, and then you could finish him with a windmill.

Looks great, very clean.

Now Mason you can come and wrap my Dodge.................lol

How long did it take and if you don't mind me askin' How much you charged............

Nice layout and install dude.....................

I started Monday, finished the Passenger side Mon nite, Drivers side Tuesday, Hood and Tailgate Wed, Thursday Windows, clean up and delivery.

The hoods on these Rams are a real biatch, the tailgate which is currently on this one has about a 4" crush right in the top from a bobcat, I found him a used one that needs paint so when he comes back with it Ive got another tailgate to do for it.

Total for this gem, 4400.00

Add another day for building all the parts. Design time is part of the price.

No offense here.... But I noticed that most wraps I see are too hard to read. Maybe it's just the design/color combos. I have rarely seen one that looks good for advertising value.

Looks real good!
One question though, why didn't you move the copy on the sides forward so it wouldn't be split between cab and bed?

No reason really, I looked at it both ways, the customer and I both liked it better bigger, to move it forward wouldve meant a reduction in size albeit not very much but enough..

steveb

You know, I can read it, pretty easily, the customer loves it, his cash payment was good, and have you ever wrapped anything?

There is more advertising value in a vehicle wrap than any other form of advertising currently.

This guy came in because he saw my wrapped truck, which by the way has no text on it. He bought this warp based on the how impressed he was with my own. So there does seem to be a great deal of "Advertising value"

No offense.

For my $4400, I would avoid that large gap between the cab and the box. I think it could have been shifted towards the front. It's a nice layout and all..
Readable is needable.
Can't envision anyone around here paying that price. 2K, more like it.
More power to ya for this done deal.
Cheers!

really... that's over an inch, you could just throw off the balance of that nice 20' layout and scrunch it to whatever misses that inch and a half...

but nahhh that would F up a good thing, just to fix a completely irrelevant non-issue.
Looks awesome as is!

Ken

I always thought that readability of any sign was an issue.
A big black line ( the gap) thru the text, erasing letters, seems to me to be incorrect.
Perhaps in Paradise this is not so.

no question that legability & readability are key... I just question if that gap has any effect on readability.
Photos can give an illusion of poor contrast when reality might be better, but I'll concede that this could have better contrast if that was a concern, however, after 5 minutes in photoshop, I still think that size reduction alone does nothing to improve readability even though the offensive gap no longer interferes with the layout. That was my only point of contention.

Mason
06-23-2007, 08:02 AM
You guys can bicker about whether or not the gap in the text holds the key to world peace or proof of life on Mars, but the customer is very happy and in my little corner of the world thats all that really matters. I know where the weaknesses are and where the strengths are, I know where I made mistakes and where I didnt, again the customer is happy, Im sure we could all spend days tearing each others layouts/work apart, if it results in nothing positive, whats the point?

The gap is no big deal. It looks great. And readability to me is not a problem
I can read it just fine. More important, sometimes, is "Take Appeal". Do
people do a double take when they seed it? I believe they will. A wrap like
this gets lots of turned heads, Then they will read it. Great Job Mason.
The right side is a problem though. I'm afraid I would have had to re-do it.

Do you work alone? if so then you would realize the complications of doing an install like this and still have to deal with other customers who are also looking for their jobs to finished/started/whatever, no simple task as a solo act..

Although this wrap does read pretty well, I agree with bevets that a lot of wraps are hard to read. I studied yours for a moment for that very issue and decided that to me it passed the readabliliy test. :thumb:

But I've seen a lot of them that probably look really great on the monitor but do not translate well as a large format wrap.

I think the issue is usually, on those that are hard to read, that the background and the copy are both tricked-out to the max which causes them to lose the contrast that's needed for the copy to punch.

Before you ask, I've never done a wrap and certainly would not get in a contest vs. you. :Big Laugh

I wanted to mention too, that your background, especially the water drops, have a ton of depth and is certainly an eye-popper. I can't imagine anyone not pausing to watch that truck all the way down the road.

Really good job.

Mason ...... nice job. Nothing in life is perfect ... the average non sign making or artistic person see what some ... artistic people can see. The big picture is ... that you did a fine job. If you where off by a large margin then that would be a serious consideration. Overall ... nice job.

Whatley ... constructive critisism is great in life, and ... so is positive feedback on the big picture. 3 times now in different threads I have seen nothing but negative from your posts. Do you have anything positive to say to people who actually deserve it? Where are your examples? Let see your work.

In any event ..... if you have something to say constructively that's fine ... do you ever follow up with some positive thoughts? As a Lieutenant in the FD leading my men ........ balance is what makes the world spin.

The next one you (wrap) will be perfectly level MASON .......... and we can all stare at it for hours at a time ....... to make sure .......... lol .... at 35-55 mph I think it looks perfectly level. well I've seen how you force your art into a signblank already, so I won't subject myself to proof on your other claims to creativity. I'm just happy for you that you may actually have some somewhere.

claims to creativity? ....... read my threads ... I am my biggest critic ......

Ok I understand now what I am dealing with.

Just because new members have opinions on here ...... doesn't mean we have to sit back for the next three years ......... while some who are condecending blast all the new people, without construction. That's the point .......... so if your Rome comment has to do with I don't get pushed around easily ... well ......... then your correct.

Now I have to go grill some steaks ..... my comment still stands ... if Pat has a one line sentence or word denoting whats negative ... I just think Ken really believed his observation was a constructive concern, yet I've consistently admired your work more then his... so I initially just responded to his observation with my contrary opinion.

When he posted that he still felt that it was a legitimate issue of legability, I thought if a picture is worth a thousand words... why not have a look.

You seemed bummed by the "bickering" but I saw it as trying to help Ken see my point of view, after him trying to share his. It does get negative here though... no argument there.
