I want to remove the old lettering from my boat. the boat is 1989 and the vinyl is really baked. It will chip away (really brittle) when i tried the lil chisler. should I just continue chipping? what is the best method for this?
Thanks In Advance

How will the fiberglass handle the heat?

It's not that much heat . . . Your not supposed to melt the boat !

You can use rapid remover to remove the glue but Roger
says only to leave it on 90 seconds then dilute and remove.

You can take a razor blade swipe it on some glass a few times to dull it a little. Then at as flat of an angle as you can hold it, slide it between the vinyl and glue with out cutting into the boat. I use this method successfully getting chrome vinyls off vehicles. This takes a little finess but it works.

I have used that orange solvent stuff and the little chisler, it worked for me.
you just have to clean real good afterwards or nuttin' will stick.

I've been using the plastic razor blades from Fellers. A little expensive, but they do a great job and don't cut the gelcoat (unless you zone out and don't pay attention). Also had very good results using AutoTech Quick & Easy Adhesive Remover. It is a solvent based remover which does a great job cutting into the old adhesive. 1-800-545-8624

I will have to get some of those. I have never tried them.

Considering one also. Do have the electric version?
A client had a cube van with old vinyl lettering/graphics and was wanting me to remove/redo. The job went away for various reasons, but was consideing an MBX for this. How long do the wheels last?
Any tips?
Cheers!
