View Full Version : Vehcile wrap disclaimer
Does anyone use a disclaimer when doing graphics on a vehicle?
just so the customer doesn't come back and freak out because when they removed the graphics the paint came off where there was rust, or the vinyl starts to peel when use use a high powered pressure washer?
Things like that..
I'm going to make one for us and I wanted to know what everyone else uses? anyone care to post a copy. Anyone have any suggestions as to things I should have in my disclaimer?
I am also going to start using a Pre-installation inspection forum which the customer will have to sign before any wrap begins..
Thanks

WB, good question and yes, there is a real need for it.
I need to draft something myself and would be more than happy to collaborate with you, and anyone else who would like to participate to make up a CYA for contracts.

Im in too! I'll try to share some input or suggestion. Who's going to make the list though? It should be one person. Send him inputs and revise when everything is covered.

My vote goes to Mason if the time is there! A list would work and we can send ideas to add................ Are we trying to reinvent the wheel? I haven’t done a search on this subject.

I would but time at the moment is a rare commodity for me, Im happy to put forth some good suggestions but as to creating and coordinating the effort I think I would fall short..
Someone has some of this stuff up their website, I just dont remember who.. they are a member here though..

There'a a form on 3Ms website just for vehicle wraps you can download it and make copys of it.
I have the form from 3M, the pre-installation inspection form. aswell as the Care and maintenance bulletin for printed vehicle graphics. 3M is very good at covering their butt. I'm going to incorperate some of the points made in the 3M bulletins but I'm looking for some other input aswell.

WB.. I am right in the middle of putting that all together! I definitely would like to collaborate on this one... there are a few things i am putting together gith now
1) A detailed disclaimer (warranty if you will)
2) Vehicle care package (What to wash it with, what type of wax you can use on it, what to avoid etc..)
3) Just like a rental company would.. a vehicle pre-inspection where you walk around the vehicle and determine any problem areas and then outline them on this form and have them sign off on them.
I just un-wraped a Hummer a couple of weeks ago and there were a few areas where tiny bits of paint came up because they were touched up.. adn another area where there was some rush forming the paint came up. The client understood.. but I like to inform someone of the possibilities before it happens...
How can we go about this??

I have been thinking about creating a packet of forms for wraps also and would be interested in collaborating. As far as the pre-installation checklist...I have been using the form that I received when I took the Oracal Wrap Class. We could use some of the points as a starting point and change as needed. There is a good template for measuring vehicles as well. I don't have anything in the way of disclaimers or vehicle care package.

We could break it up into joint responsibilities... someone (or several people) work on a specific component of what we need.. set some deadlines in place, and then we review eachothers materials and work together to finish up with the best possible product.
I am furthest along in the vehicle care package...

Attached is the form we use for every wrap. Its a good means of CYA.
Feel free to edit it and use for your shop anyway you see fit.

Count me in. What ever I can do to help. Merrit, thanks for the Wrapsheet. We need a disclaimer and a form of some type to let the client know what to expect, to bring their vehicle to us clean, prepared to make a substantial deposit and to be assured they will get a warranty.
Here's a place to start:
The vehicle wraps are produced using 3M quality materials, adhesives and inks with a U.V. clear coat applied to prevent fading, cracking and peeling. Our wraps are applied by licensed, insured professionals and posses a minimum 10 years experience in vehicle wrap applications.
Graphic Warranty
The solid opaque graphic material that is applied to the vehicle body carries a 3M manufacture warranty not to fade, crack, peel or edge lift for a period of up to 5 years.
The window graphics material that is applied to the vehicle glass carries a 3M manufacture warranty not to fade, crack or peel for a period of up to 1 year. This material has over 50% of the adhesive and vinyl punched out for viewing so the adhesion level is much less. It is impossible to detect how long window graphics will last on vehicle glass. There are examples of the window perforated material lasting up to five years. The durability seems to be determined on the vehicle’s location weather conditions, how the vehicle is maintained and whether it is garaged or stored in the outside elements.
Damaged Graphics Replacement Pricing
Vehicle wraps get damaged the same way as painted surfaces and need to be replaced from time to time. For that reason, we produce these graphics via computer generated files and are able to produce sections of the graphics upon demand.
Pricing can be provided for windows, full or partial graphic panels (48” wide) based upon details provided by the customer.
All prices include production of the graphics and application by a Certified Applicator. There is a minimum Application Trip Charge dependent upon each location will need to be reviewed prior to final pricing. Prices do not include shipping which is based upon urgency and vehicle location.

I'm in on this. Been meaning to do it for a long time, but haven't had a chance. One thing to consider--it's probably a good idea to have a lawyer take a look at the finished product to put the finishing touches on and make sure it will stand up in court. Probably cost a grand or so to do, but if we can split that up amongst a bunch of us, we'll be better off.

So where do we start? Who is officially in on getting the ball rolling on this? Lets split up the tasks and put some dates in place and within no time we'll get this finished..
