Up to this point I have not really been doing much with my so called ""Business""...

I have mostly been reading everything I can get my hands on (a few forums, few Trade Mags, couple of books, etc..) to learn as much about this business as possible. Then trying to apply what I have learned..

I took the plunge and built a PC and bought a Vinyl Plotter and now ever other week or so, I try to order a tool, some software or some supplies...

As far as paying for all of this, I did not go out and get any type of business loan, but have been spending my own money that I would have normally spent on my ""Custom Truck" hobby or addiction and made a few dollars here and there making stuff for different people that I know.

Now I want start getting everything legal and inline so I can start closing some deals and getting paid, even if its only a little for now...

About two weeks ago, I filed for a Ficticious Name (Still waiting to get something back from that) and now I'm trying to figure out what I really need as for TAX IDs and Business IDs and the such...

I have been reading online and its sort of confusing and I feel like I have been going in circles....

I am thinking of trying to set something up to speak with a Tax adviser or someone like that....

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Talk to an accountant.

Yup .... accountants handle this sort of thing on a regular basis and can advise you as to whether or not it's in your best interest to just go unincorporated with a fictious name.

We went sub-chapter S very early on because being able to write off our health insurance, vehicle expense and depreciation on a vehicle saved us more in taxes than the annual fees for the Florida corporation cost us.
