why does my Omega get hung up on 0% with .eps files frequently...
but .AIs import right in??

It will hang up because the version you run will not handle any EPS above version 7. You should be able to eliminate the problem by opening the file first in Corel, Flexi or Illustrator and resaving it back to an early enough version for your older version of Omega to handle.

You will also find in you import file types list, two different selections for both EPS and AI. When one doesn't work, often the other will.
