Did my first pair of semi doors today. Embarrased to say it took 3 hours.

Since I quoted a $50 install I took it up the tailpipe.

What do you fellas typically charge for install on semi's?

How about for a typical 2 color job overall (vinyl and install)?

typical is not a word for truck drivers:Big Laugh

without the hood and cab graphics

basic logo on doors with dot#'s on cab in two colors would be about $250 installed

sell, provide photo comps of both sides, produce w/ full color prints & cuts and install... with all GVW, DOT & PUC #'s... Around $500 to $700

This doesn't include design work, which is usually $300-$500 for Trucking company logos, or $150 - $200 for extensive layout design, but not a true "logo"

you know on installing a couple door plackards and dot# it dont take bit a bit and if the guy is gonna be good customer you might stick em on for nuthing .i have drivers call when there commin in from a run and just swing by wash the doors ,stick em on and there gone ...now most of them if there tired will just roll up in the bunk ,bang on the door when your done
that install stuff is so variable from every shop its hard to say theres a standard dollar amount i always reading newbys asking for pricing on everything ,man where do they thing people come up with pricing? trial and error ...keep up with your own local market ceilings on different work ...do some research !
if its a 2 color vynle job .havent done but 5 signs in your life ..your not gonna get what isign does logos, digital print and install for ..no way
i installed my work for YEARS before i had the nads to even ask for money...[ they say ..y"you mean i watch you fumble fart around lookin like a dumbazz for 2 hours and you want PAID for it?] better get a good show first.. dont ya think?

I did a Freightliner last Saturday and it was $185 Just text and 2 colors of 751. The thing with truck doors is dodging all the crap on the passengers door. Mirrors, door handles and those little windows all get in the way. I take a digital pic of both doors and print them out. Go to the truck and use the pic to write all the measurements on. This way I can make a simple template using the pic and design from there. Install is then a breeze because you know it will fit. less than 2 hours start to finish.

Thanks guys.

That is what I did Geiger.

Designed the "artwork" (2 color stacked text) while the customer sat there giving feedback. Took photo of truck door and overlaid artwork. Adjusted sizing/placement until customer was happy. That was all gravy.

The time sink came when installing. The top lettering was 26x14 with the outline color being a virtually solid piece of vinyl. Wind was whipping everything around so I was terrified of a wind-induced premature stick, thus a wet install.

Second layer went relatively fast until my overzealous after-squeegee tore a piece of the top layer vinyl. DOH!

Anyway everything is cool now but I will give a range next time instead of fixed install price.

Had it been letters that I could have cut between I could have had the entire install done in less than an hour, 15 minutes of that cleaning the filthy doors. ;-)
