Once in a while, people get going on hand paint or airbrush artists, and I thought I'd share who I thought are true paint artists (airbrushing is still my favorite artform).
Some of my faves.....

Lavallee and Tickle....
Man, how could I forget! Mike Lavallee..... one of my favorites (flames of course). The guy is killer. The dude has some sweet looking stuff.

And Rod Tickle

Well, no offense to him, but he's honestly not in the class of anyone listed so far. He's ok, but more of a "knock out" guy.

I've pretty well thrown out everything I painted. I painted a lot of scrap metal, some junky helmets, nothing work keeping. Haven't touched an airbrush in a couple years, but yesterday just got out all my boxes of paint, stencils and guns, threw out 3/4 of the stuff, but am trying to clean my airbrushes so I can give it a wack again.
Some day......

Shvaiko's work is amazing. Some of his work looks photographic until you get close to it, then it's all textured and chunky looking.

Maybe you should take one of Rod Tickle's airbrush classes. But then again...he's not your cup of tea.

That Rod Trickle guy sure does love to air brush copy written work and put his name on it or did Disney and the rest pay him to reproduce their stuff and I missed that?

Pat, yes Shvaiko's work is great! There is another artist who is similar, but can't think of his name.
Rod Tickle is an excellent artist. Not sure why some can't see that.

hahaha. Yeah, Indocilart.... how could anyone forget that website? He has some neat helmets. Not all my style, but you can tell he knows what he's doing and has very good layouts and pays attention to detail.

Don't think Dali or Escher ever used an airbrush....and I'm sure Da Vinci and
Michelangelo never did.
But I do enjoy some good airbrush.....

interesting, so now i'm a "knock out guy". hmmm not sure if thats good or bad. And a copyrighter too no less, hmmmm. well if you are just going on whats on my old web site and not even knowing who my clients are then you need to have a rethink. Yes there is some disney stuff on there (who hasnt done disney stuff, its the best. C'mon have you NEVER done it. )well being in this business over 27 years i am well aware of copyright and get to do copyrite stuff on a weekly basis (for those companies) I also get guys copying my work all the time. If your refuring to the little panels that i do at meets or for friends that i never charge for where the gain? if your seeing the cartoons on bedroom walls, well they were for my kids, and friends kids.
I dont come in here very often (gee i wonder why?) I'm too busy actually painting stuff not sitting in front of a computer critcizing others work.
Most of those mentioned are my heros too. I can take the knocks but if ya cant walk the walk, dont talk the talk.
cheers!

OP hand and air brush paint work must be pretty hazardous, most of the people on your list are dead.

C'mon flamey, I don't know how you can say he is not in the class of the ones you listed, I mean what criteria are you using to make that judgement. I think all these guys could paint just about anything you told them to. IMO
Also to add to the list, I think "Nub" on American Chopper is really good, and so is "Ryno" on Trick my Truck.

"c'mon, who hasn't done Disney stuff?". Most of us haven't done Disney stuff and if we did for a kid's (that we know) room, I'm sure we wouldn't post it on our website. I was just questioning if I had missed the part where Disney paid you to produce the work that was posted on the site. Plus all the other images that are owned by others.

Any of them could paint anything you wanted, but who's would look the best? Anyone can draw a snoopy with a pencil (I hope?), but put up 50 of them, it's obvious who's is the best looking.
Same theory here.
As far as Disney.... gulp. Yeah, I wouldn't put it up on my website, but I know a lot of airbrush dudes who do it all the time. Not sure where to draw the line on that one.... so perhaps I'll stay out of it. Personally though, I'd never rat a fellow artist for painting a Disney character.
*and now back to our previous discussion of masters of da airbrush....
