We pay 100% for our employees.. if they have family and want them covered, they pay that portion.

1) How heavy is a roll of banner material?
2) How much does a strained back cost?

We have a graduated payment, we pay 25% 1st year increasing to 100% in 4th year. Will probably look at capping the amount.
Bogie, an employee straining a back is covered by workers comp (which is compulsory here) not medical.

we had looked for insurance to cover both B and I.. but we ran into a problem with the fact that.. He is a recovering cancer patient..
Right now we have cal cobra for him.. which they cant turn him down.. and I dont have any.. (can afford to insure me after paying B's premiums.)
Its a pain in the butt to have to pay 650+ a month just to cover him.. But even tho he has been now cancer free for almost 3 years.. Its something that takes a while before insurance will take a risk with him.. and He has to have it.. just in case.. (the last cancer bout was realllllly expensive. and he still has to have cat scans and test every 6 months to a year)

If you got pregnant AT WORK would that be considered a workers compensation claim?

That's a GOOD one. But don't joke about this, you are giving them ideas.

I offered it to the girls but they wanted the cash instead. They are both young I guess they figure they dont need it? I pay for my own a sucky plan for a lot of money.

Our company pays about 60% but it is still expensive for the employee and it goes up every year. If you have an employee or spouse with a serious situation, the cost goes up very quickly. At my age though, I can't be without it.
..then i got pregnant (total surprise), and
I don't care about giving people ideas..... how can something that takes what it takes for this to happen be a surprise ??
:Oops:You mean you didn't have a clue... how this sort of thing happened ??

Are their any group insurance programs that are available for small sign shops pooled together? I read something about ISA offring something like this. I could use some... I'm at that age.

We use humana, through metlife. The premiums aren't bad (in my opionion, anyways) and the coverage is okay. We have full dental/medical/vision, and each employee (male, mid 20's) runs about $120/month. Not too bad, especially considering now I can tell my guys to take a few hours and go to the doc when I hear them coughing. Keeps us all more productive and well, not to mention it's another way to repay my guys for kicking ass all week.
As far as shops pooling together, it's probably something like blue cross/blue shield, which I used to have. The premiums for me, my wife, and two kids was over $800/month. That's just for medical, and didn't include prescription coverage, doc or specialist visits--only major stuff/hospital admittance. It was actually an individual plan. Now, the premiums for my family and I are in the $700 range, but that's for medical/dental/vision, and covers everything. Humana only requires two people to be considered a group, with a decent price break at six.

If all members of the society would pay(nominal amount) when they start working..then you could all afford it..been that way here in Canada for decades..not perfect,,but it works..

check into HSA's, if you rarely go to the doc, and can stand to have a higher deductible, its the way to go, plus you can get your money back if you need to and it don't go to some guys 20,000 sq ft ranch
we finally got hooked up with it, pay 80 bucks a month for the insurance with the 3500 deductible, then we chose to pay an additional 100 a month into the HSA which builds interest and can invest into what ever options you like

My wife and I are covered fully by the company. Our daughter is the only portion we pay.

My wife and I don't have any kids yet, and we've maybe been to the doctor once in the past 6 years, so HSA was great for us!
