Well, I just finished (well, almost) a site for a friend of mine. He owns a recording studio and I built a site for him a long time ago and thought it was time for a new look. I just thought I'd get some feedback from all of the talented eyes here. Thanks.

Very nice - sticks to the point, well laid out, and fully functional, even with scripting turned off, except for the gallery pop-ups, but then that's to be expected.
Excellent!!

the "about us" menu at the top is hanging out from the black
panel... in both IE and Firefox.
Looks good otherwise..
Overall? Nice job! Easy navigation straight forward and to the point.
Hate the font for the company name arrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
And I KNOW you can make better volume knobs than that.
Otherwise ........... cool. ~M

Good catch dclet, my eyes totally missed the menu background sticking out - almost looked like it was supposed to be there.
I personally would not have chosen the Old English Text font, but it worked with the layout, hence no need to mention it IMHO.
Still think it is an excellent job! :thumb:

phenomenal, classy, pretentious? LOL j/k
If the "font comment" was meant for me ........ I mentioned the font because he asked for opinions ......... on s101 we give opinions regarding ALL of the graphic, logo, sign or website design examples ....... the Old English choice looked like an after thought ........ IMHO :)
You didn't feel a need for it to be mentioned in your HO ...... which is kool for YOU ........ however I and any of us on here will give our opinions when we feel it is necessary ........ actually that's what s101 is all about ...
Since you joined yesterday .......... you will get used to it.
If your comment was NOT meant for me then disregard anything I have said.
Humbly ...........

Thanks for all the comments guys. I was surprised when I saw this thread appear. I posted it in October and never got a response. Looks like Obewonz was reading some old posts. That's good. Doing some research. Thanks for bringing the thread back to life.
Well regading some of the comments. Unfortunately the Old English font is out of my control. He has been using it for many many years and will not give it up.
I don't see what you mean about the "about us" link. It looks fine in the browsers I have used to check it. I will have to check some other computers now.
Ok, Sorry isag. I will make better knobs. I know I can too. I guess I was being lazy.
Oh wait. I just looked at the site again and I think I know what you mean. The About Us menu is supposed to be where it is. It's supposed to be down below the photo collage and offset like it is.

No prob isag,
I guess I view everything here as an opinion of sorts and figured it didn't matter that much that I didn't mention the font.
Since I am new, I also didn't want to offend anyone, though being new isn't really the issue there, and I do hate being politically correct which doesn't fit well on me anyway. I'll try to be a bit more comprehensive in the future - sorry.
Oh, the comment really wasn't meant for anybody in particular, just a follow-up on my thoughts regarding my prior post.
Thanks for the comments though, now back to your regularly scheduled discussion... :peace!:
wow ........... a kool respectful refreshing response. Welcome aboard!
Peace!

ha! Knew it! WTH is going on ........... on s101 lately? Everyone is open, and inviting critics and being honest in their responses ........... this is weird!
Where Flame when you need him? LOLOL

I like it. Nice, clean, simple and not packed full of Photoshop effects! The only place I see you could improve is to make the buttons (knobs?) clickable links to the topics next to them.
Still, nice site.

Though you stated the offset in the mini-menu was intentional, I would move that over and make it fit within the black area just to the right. An Pat is right about the knobs also, they really should be linked with the appropriate text. Though I don't really think they are bad, I can tell by some of your other graphic work that they could be much better, and agree that should also be addressed.
Cheers!

Ok, that's not how it's supposed to look. I will have to look into that. Thanks for catching that. I would hate to have my work out there not working properly.
