Absolutely not and I for one get sick of his pics going into every post he makes. To lazy to type so he just inserts usless pics with know meaning. I asked him to stop about a month ago, here is part of his response to me:I will freely post pics when appropriate seeing that there is no rule or restriction.
I can't tell you how many people have commented that they enjoy my postings.

He has no value here as far as I am concerned.

Since we don't want kids influenced by stuff of this nature. Worse yet, have them think we condone it by entering a site like this adn seeing a pron,, And then some of us are employees and such content easily violates certain company rules.

That could lead to a termination. And yes. The image stays on the machine forever until it is deleted from the hidden content folder..

It is policy for some companies to examine the hidden content to check on who is looking at pron. So there is more to it than just an adult level image. As for banning,, no,, but a good warning to all would be better.

It appears the topic is regarding banning someone on S101 ... not any of OUR worlds. Although I agree with your highlighted sentence above, there is a place for everything ... and s101 is not the place IMO. I am hard rock musician who did some wild things in my life and still do. But not on s101.

This isn't about your world or anyones else's private world on s101. S101 is a community ... and has set rules and regulations just like any other community. And we as a whole should abide by them.

That said .......... true porn does not belong here ... an occasional bikini shot of a sexy guy or girl picture ... in taste ... in a general forum does not constitute porn .......... I didn't see the post but I trust it was in bad taste for 2 reasons.

1 - I am very familiar with K3's posts ... they are usually not in good taste and sometimes downright rude and his dialog is almost non existent with regards to helping other s101 members.

2 - If Fred removed it is was for good reason, he tolerates more than I would expect.

Finally ... it is not my position to decide what Fred does ... this s101 does need more moderators at times. An apology with recognition of K3's post would be expected at the least and better policing of ourselves would help.

This is a forum for men and women and we need to respect each others boundaries. 20 years in the Fire Department we where wild and had bad mouths ... but when a woman or children walked in it was a different game ... s101 is our house (in a way) we have to police it like we do our own house ... I'm a guy and I do not want to see X level pictures on s101 even though I am in favor of our right to view porn. In private. If this was a mistake as one person suggests the Fred will sort it out.

The only way I knew it was changed was because people were posting positive about it when it clearly was anything but. It frightens me to think if any of my post were changed like that. From now on I am going to download them to my photobucket and attach it from there.

First off, I have heard from KR3SignGuy regarding this and he claims to have been a victim. My thoughts on this are that they are quite likely true but I am still going to leave the one week suspension in place because I don't agree with the practice of linking to other sites for image content.

As far as PhotoBucket type sites, I do not want such sites used for image display here at Signs 101. This site give you two very good ways to upload your images directly to here which I want all image uploaders to use from this point forward. They are

Attachment directly to the thread or
Uploading to the photo gallery and then using the uploaded image for image placement in your post.The reasons for this are:

Having images on site reduces the risk of photos disappearing at a later time.
Having images on site eliminates the expansion of forum templates when an oversized picture is posted.
Having images on site is authorized and is, therefore, not stealing anyone's bandwidth.
Having images on site will eliminate any possibility of anyone switching a photo from the original to something objectionable.So that's the rules from this point forward on posting pics. If the image is not on site then the post will be deleted.

Most would rather have a thumb nail image. The main thread will open faster and run better. Plus then there is no chance of the screen widening due to an over sized image. I don't mind clicking the thumb nail, it takes all of 2 seconds to load. Then I can view the image if I want to only.

Thumbnails are preferred by many.

Sometimes the thumbnail is enough to see if you're in a hurry & can get the jist of it from a small image... other times the thumbnail is worth clicking on ONE time... but then returning to the thread for days, doesn't require waiting for, or wading through multiple previously seen images when they have been loaded as thumbnails.

The poster had added an innocent picture to his post (a Jackolope) and somehow it turned out extremely pornographic. he never knew about it until the "Vigilantes" started screaming to ban him for life and give him 200 lashes before hanging him.

Option 2 works very well because the Photo Gallery, unlike the forum software, resizes evry upload image down to acceptable sizes. If the original is larger than 800 x 800 pixels, the uploaded images will be an 800 x 800, a 400 x 400 and a thumbnail. The 400 x 400 has a path for posting it in the information under the photo. Just copy and paste into the Image Insert feature (that's the icon you mentioned) in a post and you have a very nicely sized image for most users here.

Well sorry about that Rep.

A pornographic photo of a woman performing Fellatio was posted for all to see. Your thread was an open invitation for such a thing and was borderline at best for a sign maker's forum. I was monitoring it for several hours and was alerted to it by email complaints when I came online this morning.

Frankly I expected things to get a bit off color but was totally surprised by the rude nature of the photo and the lack of concern about those who might not want to see or expect to see something of its nature at Signs 101. My reaction was to delete the thread and suspend the individual who posted it. I fail to understand what substance or value the thread had in the first place to elicit a complaint at its removal. But the thread was not removed because of its initial content ... only because it went far beyond what it started out as which tends to be why entire threads get shut down or deleted around here.

I simply don't have the time or the patience a lot of the time to babysit a thread that's gone bad.

RB is liked by some and disliked by many. He brought all that garbage to Signs 101. It was disruptive, caused a lot of anger and cost me a lot of time. RB is banned because he refused to stop or even acknowledge he was a large part of the problem. His son is not banned and is free to post here as a regular member. Their merchant subscription was revoked and a refund was made.

as far as what do i bring to the table...25 years in the sign biz and ownership of i few dozen billboards. as far as the tech stuff that is most comon question here those questions get answered fast and answered well by others. but if anyone ever needs advice on how to do a paint i think i have much to offer.

I do have to say...

I have administered a couple internet forums over the years and also host a few customer accounts on my web server... so I am quite familiar with people hotlinking to images.

I have, as a server admin, been known to "swap" the hot linked image with a different one of the same name as a way of telling the offending hotlinker that I do not appreciate the theft of my server bandwidth. I nere plugged in a porno one, but I guess it depends on how much the host didn;t like the hotlinker!

I almost always hotlink my images since it is MY server and I think I am doing Fred a favor by using MY bandwidth for the images instead of his.

Usually it is the site hosting the images that hates the practice of hotlinking, NOT the site where the hot link is posted. The person hosting the image is the one paying for the bandwidth.

I can guarantee you it was not an intentional situation. I know this person and would totally vouche for him. I am the owner of my own Sign Company in MA. I would first like to apologize for my ignorance of hotlinked files.
There was never any intention of displaying any images that crosses the line. Up until now I’ve never been
aware of how a hotlink file can switch. I just thought it remained as is. I do understand how some of you
believe it was intentional because of my sense of unconventional humor but surely it was not.
As a promise to you guys, I will tone it way down and conform to the requests.

after Freds formal request as well as many other spirited topics that I found a need to add to.
I know I can be silly at times but when needed, I give my opinions upon critiques, digital printing,
processes, design, vendors, free art sites and other areas of the business. Some of you fail to recognize this
and choose to display links of my humor to influence opinions that I serve no purpose here. Oh well.
I see myself a closer resemblance to Patch Adams over the skewed comparison of John Wayne Gacy.
I am no threat to anyone. I’m here for occational information & most of all sign business comraderie.


Once again, this forum is truly a great thing and I don’t ever want to be a part of it’s decline.

I missed the thread that this thread is about but, IMO - KR3 got punished for 1 week. To ban him on one offense is nonsense..! Especially, since it was unintentional... (Some would say ignorance is not an excuse either...)

There is a simple way to ignore people you do not like... ADD THEM TO YOUR IGNORE LIST - Voila

This is an open forum for the pubilc used by the public. If all he wants to do is publish pictures this is his right. Does it add to s101 - some say no, some say yes. Is he breaking any rules of s101..? No...

If you are going to start banning people then you must do so all across the board. Not just on inappropriate pictures, but on religious topics, inappropriate language, etc.

I remember a thread started about some sort of holder. In any event it turned out to be based on women with large breats holding beer cans. Did anyone make a stink about this..? No... Did anyone call for bans..? No... Was it inappropriate for s101 - sure it was..!
