There are two ways to have a photo or image appear in a post. On way is to upload it to Signs 101 and the other way is to link to an image on a different website. I do not want sites other than Signs 101 used for image display here at Signs 101. This site give you two very good ways to upload your images directly to here which I want all image uploaders to use from this point forward. They are
Attachment directly to the thread or
Uploading to the photo gallery and then using the uploaded image for image placement in your post. The reasons for this are:
Having images on site reduces the risk of photos disappearing at a later time.
Having images on site eliminates the expansion of forum templates when an oversized picture is posted.
Having images on site is authorized and is, therefore, not stealing anyone's bandwidth.
Having images on site will eliminate any possibility of anyone switching a photo from the original to something objectionable. So that's the rules from this point forward on posting pics. If the image is not on site then the post will be deleted.

I like the new rules. This should cut down on usless pics posted in the middle of threads. Also will help those who have dial-up access like Ken view the threads in a more timely manner.
Thank you Fred!

Way to go Fred! Maybe now people will post images that can be seen and not need to be downloaded to view! Fred maybe it would be helpful to other if you create a little tutorial on how to place images on this forum! I know you have enough to do but was just thinking.

should there be, and/or will there be any specific rules regarding the posting of links?

There are certain risks associated with links but little in the way of controlling them short of moderating all posts ... which no one is going to do. I personally cannot imagine Signs 101 without the freedom to post links, so I consider the risk/reward to be heavily in favor of not restricting them.
If any member posts a malicious link, it will be reported in short order and both the post and the member dealt with.

awwww. , ya mean i cant post tub girl?
Good stuff Fred..if we can also have people only post thumbnails on a thread..that would be great also.
The thumbnail photos let us decide wether we want to look at the image, or not.
Cheers!
Ken
Just checking to see if I and a few of my friends could still post the way we used to....................
Okay..........:thankyou:

Mmmmmmmmmm, my neighbors have some peacocks that like to cross the road. But, nothing quite to that size.:Big Laugh They also have a line of domestic and wild geese that love to cross the road. Everyone around here calls it " The Funny Farm', but in reality- it's a farm full of all kinds of recuse animals.

I once had a wild turkey fly right through my windshield. A big cloud of feathers in my truck just like out of a cartoon or something. Had to be there...
