Why do they have to be free.......?
Are you going to make money on them......If you are then spend a little to make a little........

In addition to the individual images of dogs at Express Clipart mentioned in the above post, you can also license a "mini-collection" of 88 vinyl ready dogs shown HERE (http://expressclipart.com/store/mini_collections_info.php?colId=5&cPath=193&mPath=4&osCsid=3891155a5191bbbcb4b0f0ce77280b6c) for $44.95. Sorry but I don't know of anyone offering clipart of dogs for free. I earn my living though by selling them at reasonable prices.

Draw it yourself, scan it in, and clean it up. That's your only FREE source. Of course, there's always your microsoft office clipart. That stuff's a REAL WINNER! Use Fred's, or some other place. Build it into your cost. You win, the customer wins, and you support someone that has what you need.

I have absolutely no problem paying for professional quality vector art especially if I'm going to be making money using it. I don't want something for nothing, I'm in the practice phase right now, about 3 weeks into sandblasting, so I'm not making any money yet. I'm practicing and was just looking for some good vector art without having to spend any money yet.
I've been buying stuff from the dollar store to practice on and just using fonts from my PC to make words on things. Now I'm going to try some clipart.
This community is great, sorry for the question, don't want you guy to think I'm a cheap-o.

If you can't afford clipart try making your own. It's free if you don't count your time, and it's fun, plus it will help you develop as an artist.
If you can't make your own, buy it! It will be well worth it later down the road, even if you are practicing at this point in time.
Like Skyhigh siad, nothing in life is free. But if you do happen to track down free clipart, I'm betting it will be worth what you spent.
Just my 2 cents

Here's a link (http://www.allcompu.com/downloads/downloads.htm) to four images from Plotter Art™ Originals for you to download and practice with. It's the far right column on the page.

Brings to mind a song by Tom Lehrer from the 1950's ...
He gives the kids free samples
Because he knows full well,
That today's young idle samplers
Are tomorrow's clientèle.

If you can't make your own,
and if you can't
either hire someone that can or think twice about being in this business.............
The way clipart is abused these days my art teacher must be rolling over in
his grave.........

Ohh my God someone asked a question lets all make fun of him..... If you guys are done. There is plenty of free clipart out there. But its usually pay if you use it kind of stuff and never exactly what you need. On that note if you want cheap not the best clip are try www.iclipart.com. If you want free stuff try googling it, its gonna take some hunting and you probably wont find what you want. If you have Corel draw you have clip art already its not much but its helped us many times. Hope that helps.

Oh Boy some people sure do get Bent Out Of Shape when the word FREE is expressed. I wonder where this industry would be today if some of the Orginaters had not given FREELY to others when we first started out?

Well I will say that there are plenty of jobs that come around where it calls for a simple, cheap and quick layout so free clipart does have it's place in this business. Yeah I would recommend buying packages of clipart and even drawing your own when it's necessary. But if someone here can say they have never used a free clipart image at somepoint in their career...I would venture to say they were lying.
It's Friday!!! Man life is good when Friday rolls around. And next week is a short week too. Chit, I may even taking the 3rd off too.

as far as practicing sand blasting...text should work fine...If you want dogs though and have any kind of program that will vectorize you can use your imagination . Take newspaper clippings, anything, outline it, scan it, vectorize it, clean up the nones and cut....

i dont get it......these people all claim to be COMPUTER SAAVY....and ARE IN THE GRAPHICS end of it, BUT DONT KNOW ANY PROGRAMS WITH CLIPART?????
makes me wonder about the people gettin into this line of work.
NUMBER ONE..
you either have COREL or ILLISTRATOR. both have some selection of clipart, COREL HAS A LOT IF YOU BUY A COPY!!!!
NUMBER TWO:
so many INEXPENSIVE PROGRAMS have CLIPART!
such as, ART EXPLOSION, PRINT ARTIST, PRINT SHOP, PRINT ART.
all have clipart, most can be vectorized....with a little knowledge.
NUMBER 3:
good program loaded with VECTOR CLIPART, TONS OF IT.
ARTS & LETTERS EXPRESS 7.0. I GOT THE UPGRADE FROM 6.0 FOR $69.00.
if you buy it, you have at least a chance to be professional...
