file import question

I have a customer that supposedly cannot import an ai file I sent to them. They are using vinyl express - I don't know anything about this software.

95% of the files I send out are ai files saved down to version 6. Is the aforementioned software unable to handle this file type?

Earlier versions of most sign software only handle up to version 3. I'd guess that this is the problem.
