View Full Version : Cleaning Encoder Sensor on SP540V
Anyone have any clever ideas on how to clean the accumulation off of the eyes of the linear encoder sensor? The gap is only about 1/16" wide so that eliminates my medical grade swaps.

Lint free eye glass cleaning rag
Cloth is not the issue. How do you get the cloth in the tiny gap to clean the eyes?

After taking the sensor out of the printer,
Slide in edgewise back and forth... should work its way in there

after taking it off, i drown a shop cloth in isopropyl, and fold it and basically credit card swipe the reader. power off & unplugged of course. Oh, watch out when putting it back on, try not to have it rubbing against the strip :)

Those cans of compressed air also work nicely; and you don't have to remove/reinstall the sensor.
