Mobile Phone Users May Now Access Signs 101 Using the Forum Runner App

The Forum Runner app has been installed and should work for iPhones, iPads and most Droid smartphones. Here is the information from the Forum Runner website:

Push Notifications

Forum Runner supports *FREE* Push Notifications. This means that when you get a private message or a thread you have subscribed to gets posted in, you will get a notice on your mobile device even if you aren't in the Forum Runner app!

You can also configure what hours of the day you want to receive push notifications, and what kind of push notifications you want to receive (private message, subscription, etc).

What Devices are Supported

Push notifications are supported on all versions of the iPhone and iPad as well as Android devices running Android OS 2.2 or later. For push notifications to work on Android, you must be logged into the Google Apps as we use the same framework that Google uses for sending updates (such as Mail, etc).

iPhone Push Notification Activation

To activate Push Notification for Forum Runner for iPhone, follow the steps below:


Purchase the full version of Forum Runner (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/forum-runner-vbulletin/id362527234?mt=8) from the iTunes App Store
Verify that Push Notifications are enabled on your device in Settings->Notifications
Launch Forum Runner. You should be prompted to accept Push Notifications.
Touch the "Notification Settings" icon on the home screen
Choose "Create Account" and enter a user name, password, and valid e-mail you would like to use
After you submit it, an activation e-mail will be sent to your e-mail address. Click on the activation link in that e-mail to activate your account
Congratulations! Once you favorite some forums that have fully installed the Forum Runner plugin, you will get updates periodically!



Android OS Push Notification Activation

To activate Push Notification for Forum Runner for Android, follow the steps below:


Purchase the full version of Forum Runner (http://www.forumrunner.net/?p=push#) from the Android Market
Verify that you are logged into a Google account in Settings->Accounts and Sync Settings
Launch Forum Runner.
Touch the "Notification Settings" icon on the home screen
Choose "Create Account" and enter a user name, password, and valid e-mail you would like to use
After you submit it, an activation e-mail will be sent to your e-mail address. Click on the activation link in that e-mail to activate your account
Congratulations! Once you favorite some forums that have fully installed the Forum Runner plugin, you will get updates periodically!

what am i doing wrong?
here's are screen shots of what i get on my iPhone, when i tried to post in this thread using Forum Runner.

first screen shot: hit reply button in upper right corner, which lead to the second screen
second screen shot: no option to reply, just subscribe to thread, refresh page, home or cancel.

They still make those?! If you like keyboards get a Samsung Epic or a Droid 2, whenever I use someone's Blackberry it makes me feel like I'm time traveling and not in a good way.

Yeah my BB storm was supposed to be the android X 2 years ago. I was SO sick of it especially with what I was paying ($183 mo.) that I was almost going to get a cheap
POS phone. That is until I put my hands on the Droid X and at $50 a month less too.

Yes, it posts photos correctly. No problems with it. Private messages work great on it too.

had no problems without the app- altho a balloon popped up one time and
suggested I use Forum Runner. My question is would I gain anything with
the app or is it more for smart phones (which I buy for everyone else in the

The differences in appearance and functionality with Forum Runner make a lot of difference but, as you point out, are not the only solution for viewing Signs 101 on a mobile device.

I still think that Tapatalk is a better forum viewer, but Signs101 is a lot easier to browse on my phone with forum runner.
