This has always bothered me and there is probably a simple solution.

Why in Corel when you type in 1/2 does it go smaller and any other fraction stays the size you type it in!:help:

if you have "type assist" turned on and common fractions (ie 1/4, 1/2, 3/4...) are within the type face your using, corel will automatically convert them to that character.
