we tend to do custom graphics, from big to small, on motorcycles quite a bit and i was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to create a template for the bikes. what we do is take transfer tape and put it on the bike and then trace out the curves and then we take pics of the transfer tape on a flat surface and send them to the computer. our designer then traces the photos in illustrator. however, this doesn't always work out as planned and the templates tend to be slightly off. does anyone else do something different?

also, if you have done bikes before post some pics. the following pics are of a spawn bike that we have been working on for the past week or so. we are pleased with how well it turned out for being all cut vinyl and not a wrap.

We do the templates the same way you comment that you make your own. Like you said sometimes the templates are slightly off, that happens sometimes, install the first template yourself and make photos of anything hat is off and needs to be changed.

This is a lot easier to do for dirt bikes lol

Below are some pics of bikes we did for Eric Stump in NJ.

ohh by the way those are NOT wraps (except the tank), they are "graphic kits" for an R6 - 26 pieces in total to cover the bike, some edges show but If the customer has a problem with that they can order a wrap not a graphic kit.
