Outlines in AI

I have a customer that sent me some lettering and added outlines- but when I open it in Flexi the "outlines" are well inside the actual size that they want the letters cut- they tell me that what I am seeing is the original size of the font and they want it thicker-

Any ideas on how I can get this to work?

In Illustrator, you should "Expand" the text and the outlines. This serves to make the change permanent and not editable in the future, so saving of an original editable master under a different name is a good practice.
