  1. Static Cling. STOP THIS MADNESS!

I've always been told white static cling material is made for an outdoor application. I know indoor applications require reverse printing on clear cling, and laminated it with white vinyl. We only carry the white cling, due to low demand for the indoor clings. I have been in graphics for 10...

  3. A Bit Of A Pickle...

"If you relied on the old printer to print trim marks it may be out of calibration along the feed axis. Easily can be .125" off from that." I think you nailed it Printhog. I trusted the trim marks from the old printer the first time around, and after double checking size in the file and...
  4. Suggestions Oki Printer Vs Roland Truevis

TruVis definitely still has it's bugs. I lost a print head less than 6 months in. Roland has been great though. I upgraded from the SP540V to the VG540 and it absolutely blew me away at first. Then, I had all kinds of problems....but that all seemed to stem from the faulty head. After warranty...
  5. A Bit Of A Pickle...

I'm using the same machine. Both prints are coming from the SP540V. The ones from last week and the ones I am printing now. My point of reiterating that I'm just an employee, was that I can't just add laminate because I think I should. It has to be approved by the owner and customer and added...
  6. A Bit Of A Pickle...

The point of my post was that I can't get the same printer to reprint the same file without a difference. I know I messed up by not measuring after cutting them down. Call it habit of trusting my trim marks. I know laminate protects vinyl from scratching, I suggested it, I was told no. Again...
  7. A Bit Of A Pickle...

Even laminate wouldn't have stopped these scratches. There are chunks dug out of the sign.
  8. A Bit Of A Pickle...

Yeah, I have been kicking myself for not measuring after they were finished in the first place. The prints were not laminated, but they were masked with application tape, to prevent squeeqee marks. I am not trying to get the TruVis to match the 540V....I'm trying to get the 540V to match the...
  9. A Bit Of A Pickle...

Ok, first I want to give a little background into my current shop situation. I am an employee, not an owner. I'm the only employee/manager of the graphics/signs department. My main machine is a Roland Tru-Vis VG540; I have an older Roland SP-540V I mainly run as a backup. For this specific...
  10. Vg-540) Colors

I think most of my problems were related to a faulty head from the manufacturer. My new head is installed now and everything is going swimmingly. Is the crop mark error happening on the first mark or the last? I noticed that (since I don't typically run the media clamps) the last crop mark it...
  11. 3m Envision 480 Sv480cv3 Issue

I have only went through one roll of this stuff, but it is very finicky. I printed a graphic, left it to outgas for over 24 hours, laminated, cut, then went to apply. Used application tape due to floating elements in the design. When peeling back the application tape to apply, the laminate...
  12. From My Experience, Stay Away From Roland's New Truvis Machines.

I have the same trouble, cut accuracy, and print consistency is all over the place. I have ran a roland print/cut versacamm in one model or another for the past 7 years and have never had a complaint with cut accuracy. Just hope that you don't lose a print head in the VG-540....mine went down...
  13. From My Experience, Stay Away From Roland's New Truvis Machines.

Idk where the numbers on it being one of the slowest Roland's ever came from. That is the only thing I don't have a complaint about. It blows the SP and VS out of the water when it comes to print speed. A 6 ft wall graphic will print in 7 minutes on the VG, takes over 40 minutes on the SP. We...
  14. Avery Digital Film Class

I attended the Advanced wrap class with Justin Pate in Cincinnati a few years back. It was really helpful. Justin is an excellent teacher and a vinyl wizard.
  15. Vg-540) Colors

We made the same transition last october. When we first got the VG, I was blown away by the speed and quality. Now, only 4-5 months later, it is constantly going down. The cut calibration is awful, and I can't keep the print quality consistent. Now I have a print head completely dropped out and...
  16. From My Experience, Stay Away From Roland's New Truvis Machines.

We recently (last October) bought a new Roland TruVis VG-540. The printer was excellent for about the first month, maybe two. Since then however, I have had a tech in here at least once a week. I have ran a SP-540V and a VS-540i for 7 years total, and have had more service calls in the last 4...
  17. Anyone Have A Good Icc Profile For Roland Sp-300v?

The Oracal 3165G profile works well, but the only way I have been able to get good solid red out of our SP, is to set it to the Roland Color Library red. Import the Roland Color System library palette into your art program. PR-43K prints a beautiful red everytime.
  18. Suggestions Low Maintenance Sticker Printer

Roland's typically aren't that maintenance intensive. Maybe manual cleaning once or twice a month, which takes all of about 10 minutes. Also, the print/cut works well on small to intermediate runs and eliminates the need for a stand alone cutter. I wouldn't go any larger than the 30 in. machine...
  19. Suggestions Difficult Client. Just Want Opinions.

I prefer doing full bleed when I'm applying to a large sheet and cutting down. This particular job, I had pre-cut 2x3 blanks. I apply everything by hand with a squeegee, so lineup is more tedious with full bleed when the signs are pre-cut. If I mounted with a laminator it would be much faster...
  20. Suggestions Difficult Client. Just Want Opinions.

Thanks again for everyone's input. I'm redoing the order soon, I will post pics of both versions when it's finished so you can see the job that started this thread saga lol. Just for clarification, this is NOT a repeat order, only a repeat client. We do have job jackets here listing any history...
