We have a client that wants us to print labels for them on UV Colorado 1630. They also need to print a lot number and expiration date with a standard desktop inkjet printer.
Is there such a media?
Thanks, Ed
If your doing a lot of media and multiple printers, spend the money and get an IO or Barbieri that can automate the profile creation. Every printer and every media pairing needs it’s own profile.
Using the same software to create all the profiles gives you a similar color response across...
Pretty sure Laird does not deliver to NWA.
What issues are you having from grimco? We usually order coro in 25-50 quantities with no problems.
Reece, GSG and Nglantz all deliver to NWA and all good.
We reviewed the latex prints and they are grainy compared to solvent or uv. HP was good about sending samples but the quality was not good for our market.
Make sure you see print samples of your type of work before dropping a dime. You also want to see the machine in a production environment.
The touchstone process can layer up to 2mm of ink and varnish. Braille on ADA signs is less than 1mm so I suspect you would have no problem printing compliant signs.
Once layered and cured, it holds up well. We tried to pop them off with our fingernails and could not. With a screwdriver...
You can do your own service on the 1650. You go to school and get certified then sign a self-maintenance contract. There is a yearly fee which gives you access to the tech help desk. We do all our 2380XTF and 1630.
According to Canon guidance, you are going to replace .7 printheads per year.
That said, I know of many who have not had to replace printheads for years. It all depends on use and daily maintenance procedures.
$10k a year is not bad if it includes 2 printheads.
Are you purchasing it from Canon? If so, that is good news. They routinely sell used machines they take as trade-in and agree to a fully functioning machine. Main concerns obviously are the ink systems. If a machine sits for an extended period the printheads are most likely shot.
Is the machine currently used daily? You should start with a nozzle check and ship print. If these have problems you could be in for big $$$ getting it running.
