  1. Printing to cheap wood to make it look like exotic wood....

This is actually something we do on a regular basis. I run a couple of flatbed printers in a millworks factory. A lot of the jobs we do call for expensive or exotic woods, so we print on veneer, MDF, birch, or other cheap wood we have readily available. As long as the scans/photos of the wood...
  2. photo enlargement for large format

Well, a file that is 1274x704 pixels at 72 pixels/inch measures out to 17.694" x 9.778" according to Photoshop. This is an awkward size for an image to begin. Likely the file was edited/cropped to that size. You said in your original post that you would like to print your image at 170" x 108"...
  3. Graphtec parts

Any chance you could post the specific part/model number from the motor?
  4. Business Card face lift

Is there any particular reason for all the drop shadow / outer glow effects? I think with the stroke on the text everything should be legible. Would look 100% better without all the shadows IMO.
  5. Is this font custom? No match on what the font.

You guys are legends. Much appreciated.
  6. Is this font custom? No match on what the font.

I'm cutting some vinyl decals for trucks and hard hats. Hats and trucks are very different sizes, and I was given a .jpg to work with. Illustrator didn't give me a particularly clean trace, so I was hoping I could just find the font instead of moving nodes for another hour. Thanks in advance.
  7. Asked to try to replicate this for print, need help with fonts please

For some god awful reason someone wants a print done up of this, and I'm having trouble identifying all the fonts here. It looks as though someone downloaded a collection of fonts and wanted to try them all out at the same time, because design. If anyone could help, I would truly appreciate it.
  8. issue with printing this gradient

This might be a stupid question, but are you soft proofing against your printer's gamut?

    Hello and welcome!
  10. Advice for printing 10' doors on a 4'x8' machine?

Appreciate all the input. I've constructed my own shims to line things with the edge of the table (so horizontally aligning the prints) and printed registration marks directly on the table to help align in the vertical direction. Now to get through printing 120 image slices without making a...
  11. Race Trailer Wrap. Give me your thoughts

Seems like I missed most of the action during lunch, but some general advice: Before you start your design, settle on a palette of 2 or 3 colors that complement each other and stick to them. Your entire design will look more cohesive. Same goes for font choices, you'll want to stick to 1 or 2...

  13. Hello from Carson City, Nevada!

Of course, I'd be happy to help in any way I can. Thanks for the welcome everyone!
  14. Advice for printing 10' doors on a 4'x8' machine?

That was my first inclination as well, but this project was signed off on before I joined the company and I didn't have any input. I've been instructed specifically to print direct to substrate. Printing vinyl is my plan b if we can't sort out the alignment issues though.
