It's the encoder strip not cutter cable and guides. Clean it with 70% isopropyl alcohol. You may have to remove the encoder sensor and clean it as well. After all of this is done don't forget to run env. match. You could also flip the encoder strip and use the bottom side of it.
Did you precharge the damper with ink before replacing it? It sounds like the head may not have ink in it. All heads have a thermistor in them but only the black channel reads the thermistor during normal printing. FW 3.0 was known to cause this bug with the scan motor.
Did you precharge the dampers with ink before replacing them? Did you check the fuses with an ohms meter for continuity? A blown fuse can look fine to the naked eye.
You have the largest Roland dealer in the world there in Houston give them a call and they can get you a cap top which is the issue. Do not do ink pump up if you have the original pumps this can cause them to fail.
The mark goes to the outside on the outer pinch rollers the middle pinch rollers are different than the outer ones they are flat and it does not matter which way you install them. Load some vinyl in your machine before changing them out so when you drop the washers they don't fall down into the...
Make sure before buying this that you have reset the card it may not be bad. You can get the instructions on doing this from a Roland dealer service department. They don't fail that often.
The covers are a pita but they do help keep ink in place from the wipers as the come past the scraper basically you just got to adjust (tech term for bend) it into place.
Roll some material off the roll so it's not pulling any load and see if it goes away. To much tention on the roll can cause this issue. However all piezo heads will fail eventually. It could be the screen in the damper is clogged and starved for ink.
Are you getting air in the syringe? It could be a cracked ink manifold where the damper attaches. Also pull the skins and have someone watch the hoses whe you pull ink through you may have a cracked ink line especially on a printer that old.
We have sold over 1,000 Roland printers I head up the service department so I really know what I am talking about, the bearings should last longer than 3 years we have replaced less than 4 in over 10 years.
