  1. Discussion I've owned an HP R1000 since April 2019, ask me anything

The latex machines are plastic toys. There is no real production out of those machines. They look cool and you get the fancy HP badge but they will eat you up with consumables and service contracts. Not to mention adding heat to printing flatboards is the worst idea I have heard. LED is the...
  2. Chipset and CPU for CET/Fluid Color/Handtop Printers?

All valid reasons for keeping the machines, but you may also weigh the pros and cons of upgrading to newer machines. I don't know what the cost of these upgrades are or what all is involved. What I have experienced over the years is you may want to sell machines while they are still worth...
  3. Canon Colorado

We run everything on quality (gloss and matte) except for 3mij180cv3 which we run on specialty. It’s slow but it looks really good. We only get banding from time to time in cyan. Everything else looks great in quality modes. We bought it primarily for signage, banner and decals. We do not...
  4. Fluid color Kyocera white ink reliability

Troy is right. With a good white ink system it’s not a problem. We run 2 white heads in our TruFire LTX2 with no problems. We treat it the same as all the other heads and have been smooth sailing for 3.5 years. This is the only machine I have seen that will run a good white at 1700 square feet...
  5. Cutter or Router: Colex v Shop Sabre

Terrance is exactly right. We do tons of aluminum and ACM but it is always a pain. When we buy .080 reflective sheets from Grimco and print direct and route it does a great job. But when you print/laminate/mount it is quite the mess. We have tried up flute, down flute and all sizes of bits...
  6. Digitech and colex conveyor system

Have had our Digitech LTX3 for about 3.5 years and could not be happier. We bought a second colex last year and had it built for the Digitech>colex conveyor auto cut/finish system but have not invested in the additional conveyors required. Was looking to get real world experiences on it. It...
  7. Colorado or not

Definitely sounds appealing but have yet to see a hybrid do roll to roll as good as a true roll to roll. Tracking, walking, etc seems to always be an issue. Would never feel comfortable setting a roll and walking away. How does it handle those issues?
  8. Roll to Roll UV Printer Purchase

Put the canon Colorado on your list. The new one has white and gloss/matte finish. We have had ours about a year and it has been great.
  9. Double Sided Alignment on Flatbed Printer

True flatbed shouldn’t be an issue. We are usually within 1/16. Measure your media. It’s usually oversized in that situation.
  10. Equipment Redundancy - Bad idea to rely on one printer?

Just signed my service contract on our 1650 yesterday. Not getting a warm and fuzzy feeling. Time will tell. When they installed our Colorado we experienced the same issues with techs showing up at 4 and would have to leave by 530. Took them a better part of two weeks to finally get the...
  11. Canon Colorado M Series.

Yes, not much as far as consumables. Very little maintenance and very easy to use. Probably my favorite roll to roll that I have owned.
  12. Canon Colorado M Series.

You will be very happy with the Colorado. It just works. The latex machines take forever to get going, cool off and just throw errors any chance they get. Colorado you just hit print and let it go. Solid build and reliable b
  13. Canon Colorado M Series.

Shoot me your email address and I can send you a couple of our files. Would love to see if there is a difference.
  14. Canon Colorado M Series.

Colorado is great and it does use less ink but their ink is SO expensive. Have tried negotiating better ink price and they do not seem interested at all. They quoted me $.08-$.10 per square foot and we are double that. Ken the rep that sold it to me is about as worthless as they come...
  15. Roland UV vs Mimaki UV vs HP 700w maintenance +white opacity

I know the Colorado seems high but if you finance it, it’s a low monthly payment. Well worth the money as it is a work horse. No heat up, cool down, replacing heads, etc. Replaced our latex with it and could not be happier. HP is complete trash and their service is even worse.
