  1. Need Help Large bubbles when applying vinyl to board

In our shop we use our laminator for laminating long print runs, 10ft or more, and our laminating table for less than 10ft and for mounting vinyl to rigid substrates. Our laminator adjusts from the laminating setting to 2” thick but I would never use it for mounting to rigid substrates. There’s...
  2. 10'x30'+ banner with ropes/cables sewn in.

B2Sign.com can do that. I’ve had them produce some really big banners without any major issues. I believe they fold the banners now for cheaper shipping, and you’ll see the fold lines for a couple of days but they go away after sun hits them for a bit.
  3. Suggestions fixing banner on chain link fence

I’ve used these brackets for affixing rigid signs to chain link fences. They work really well for signs, might work for banners too.
  4. New guy interested in pricing thoughts?

You’re welcome! I wouldn’t be as concerned with laminating the sign if it will be indoors only. You should be fine with no lam. You might want to consider how the sign will be mounted/hung though. If you or the customer intend to mount with standoffs, you’ll be drilling through the face of the...
  5. New guy interested in pricing thoughts?

I operate a commercial print and sign shop and produce traditional printing with digital and offset presses as well as wide format and signage projects. The wide format side has way more room for profit. We consistently get 6-10 times the cost of vinyl and at least 2-4 times the cost of rigid...
  6. Magnet faded the paint?

Anyone ever see a magnet do this to paint? I’ve seen it work in the opposite where the paint around the magnet faded leaving darker paint underneath or the paint getting scratched from dust underneath. I’ve never seen the paint fade though…
  7. Does anyone know what the black coating is?

You might be on to something about the paint. It does have a similar hardness to a wall that has a couple coats of paint. You can dig your fingernail in and chip away at it. I’ve accidentally scraped some away removing vinyl. It’s hard enough that you can’t make a dent by pushing on it but...
  8. Does anyone know what the black coating is?

hmmm...I've never known powder coating to be soft-ish or able to be scraped off with a fingernail. They like that pock-mark-looking finish for some reason...not my favorite and a pain in the butt to take vinyl off of! The sign material is wood. Thanks for your input!
  9. Does anyone know what the black coating is?

I have a client who would like for us to create a new sign that has the same build and finish as their preexisting directional signage. We had no part in making the directional signs and they're unable to give me any details from whomever did. The sign is pretty straightforward except for this...
  10. Font ID please

Engravers Old English, someone most likely added the claws manually.
  11. Opinion Grimco in the PNW has gotten so much worse after their latest merger with TubeliteDenco

I highly recommend MultiCraft-Plastics. Good pricing, good website, good service. We used to use Sun Supply, who we never had any major issues with, but MultiCrafts’s pricing is better. Kelly Spicers isn’t a bad resource for plastic substrates either. We buy a lot of paper from them but recently...
  12. Digital press that can print white ink?

We’ve owned a similar Ricoh that printed white a few years ago. Be careful if you go this route, ours were not good machines. The first machine had to be swapped out in the first 3 months and the second was constantly down. It did image nicely and the white was very opaque. We had them max out...
  13. Font ID please

Looks like Shrikhand which is similar to Cooper Blk https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Shrikhand
  14. Font ID Help

Tom is correct. There are font recognition sites like whatthefont.com that do a pretty good job. Script fonts can be problematic though. I scanned your image though and it came up with no problem.
  15. Suggestions Wholesale to the trade supplier for ADA/Hospital signs

You could give Gemini a look. They have a lot of different material they work with. I primarily buy acrylic lettering and logos but they do good work. Www.geminimade.com
