  1. HP Latex 800W

We had one of the first 800W's and while it is a bit finicky, we had none of the problems others seem to have had. I guess we didn't get a lemon. 3 years in we have had to replace a few parts but HP has warrantied some of that even though it is out of warranty. I found the best way to get...
  2. Pretty much sums it up......

My dad had that on a tshirt just shy of one million years ago.
  3. 1105 ON HP 700W DARK COLOURS BANDING

Used to run 1105 on an 800W and had the odd banding issue. As Ikarasu said for us it was almost always a head needing replacement. I did have it running at 12 pass for vehicle wraps but that was just me as I was hyper critical of quality and I could see the difference. Speed wasn't that much of...

  5. 3M IJ180 Controltac alternative?

We used Avery 1105, the wrap guys didn't like the 3M. Pretty sure the bundle price with lam we got was cheaper than the 3M
  6. Waterproof Fluorescent Cardstock

So not Orange coroplast? Thats pretty bright, not flourescent though. Or is it maybe a waterproof material that is printed flourescent orange?
  7. Looking to change printers and needing some advice

Last shop I was in had an 800W. A few quirks but compared to a lot of people out there it was fine. Lots of vehicle wraps in that shop so the ability to print and lam immediately was pretty important. The machine had one repair in the last 3 years (that shop got one of the first ones available)...
  8. HP 365 & Duratex Mesh Banner - Pulling my Hair out!

I did have some similar issues with our 800 and as well as setting the vacuum high I also set the take up roll to "always tension" Seems like the setting to only have tension when the roll advances would allow the media to bunch because of the heat, and cause head strikes.
  9. Possible bad batch of 3M 180CV3

We had a similar issue with Avery 1105. Turns out what we were shipped wasn't EZRS so not repositionable. I wonder if 3M is mislabeling what they are sending out?
  10. What? In order for me to do some work for you, you want to have the option to audit my business expenses of the job!

The legal department at Megacorp used to ask for some silly things from some of our contractors and service providers. Quite a few wouldn't sign the NDA and other ridiculous asks. I completely understand as I wouldn't either. If a client asked us to do produce work for them and ask for an audit...
  11. How to explain outsourcing?

Most every shop of any size farms out some part of the production. The shop I am in now has Sheetfed, digital, roll to roll, flatbed, CNC and any other kind of finishing you can think of including installation. We still farm out a lot of stuff that is too high a volume, to pricey to finish in...
  12. Colorado or not

Interesting. What Flatbed's have used with roll to roll? I used to work in a shop that had a couple of Arizona's we would load up with 150' rolls at the end of the night and just let them run out of material. Never had any issues.
  13. Printer Recommendation Latex vs Solvent

Have to agree with what has been said. I would emphasize that local service for whatever you buy is paramount. We had a couple of Arizona flatbeds and our service tech was fantastic. The few times we had problems he was there same day. He would drop by before he went on holidays and make sure...
  14. Roll Up Banner Profile

Last shop I was at where I actually had anything to do with ordering was using this: https://www.ponygraphics.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=216_116_122_59&products_id=3973 Its thin but looks great and is dirt cheap. It used to come in 36" rolls but seems like it is only 54" now. I...
