  1. US Tariffs, Sigh!

Seal walks into a bar, slides up onto a chair. Bartender says "what'll you have?" Seals says "anything but a Canadian Club"
  2. US Tariffs, Sigh!

So much wrong with the calculation of that number I don't even know where to start. The population grows at a record pace because of immigration, 2/3's of who are on temporary work visa's (migrant workers) or students. The same business types crying about this number are the ones that asked for...
  3. HP Latex 700 64" Printer

I have seen that with both of our 800's. Seems like it happens when you leave a roll in the machine overnight/over the weekend. The machine periodically wakes up and moves the media back and forth so the first couple of feet end up dirty.
  4. HP800W Dropping out Yellow part way through print

I had an issue a while back similar to that where it would lose part of the image printing a white sandwich job. In my case it was bad optimizer.
  5. US Tariffs, Sigh!

The US has 200-300% tariffs on Canadian dairy too.... for over quota amounts agreed to in our trade agreements (the last one negotiated and signed by Donald Trump). The amount of tariffs applied to dairy on both sides of the border is basically zero, because neither side sells beyond the quote.
  6. US Tariffs, Sigh!

The US might be close to bankrupt but maybe its just your government not collecting enough taxes? Top tax rate from 1951-1963: 91%, top tax rate today: 37% Actual tax rate payed by Elon Musk: 3.27% (2014- 2018), pretty much the same for every insanely rich person. Uncollected taxes amount to...
  7. US Tariffs, Sigh!

I always enjoy the irony of the American guy telling me the Canadian economy isn't doing well. I think you should question wherever you are getting your info/news from.
  8. Magnet Material

We did something similar with our HP 550 and R2000. The initial part of the feed/outfeed has a piece of banner wrapped to it and for us that was enough to stop the magnet from sticking.
  9. Time Clock Options

We use something called "When I Work". Employees use the app on their phone to clock in and out, request holidays etc.
  10. Advice for starting local print shop

We used to run into that. Shop minimum is $115, even if its one sticker. Keeps the time wasters away.
  11. What is your experience with the HP latex printers

We are on our 2nd 800w. Ran the first one pretty hard for 3 years and had a few issues towards the end. Bought an R2000 and swung a new 800w in the deal. No off gassing time, 3 litre ink and fast printing are the pluses. We had some minor consistency issues with the first one. Just ran a 30'...
  12. FB700/750 ink replacements

We switched to the Triangle on our 550 and had no issues. Printed much better with really nice reds. We were buying that from Laird.
  13. Good Alternates to ShopVox Shop Management software

I have used Cyrious, Enterprise and Squarecoil. The version of Enterprise we have is really detailed, but better for a Print shop than a Sign shop. Cyrious is super customizable and apparently the new user interface makes it easier to manage. Squarecoil was just being adopted at the previous...
  14. Print media questions

We removed the cheaper option. All general adhesive vinyl/flat surfaces: 3M I40c with 8509 Vehicles: Avery 1105 with 1360. The majority of vehicles are commercial.
  15. issue with laminated coroplast signs printed on HPFB750

We had one Real Estate agency that wanted their coro signs laminated. We found the best way to do that was wrap about an inch around the back, never had any problems doing it that way No idea why they wanted the "Cheap but Expensive" way of doing it.
