  1. HP L25500 Technician Manual

Thank you! Thanks for putting the manual up for us all! We have a pair of L25500s and both can be quirky. I love them (probably buying an L28500 shortly) but once they hit 18 months or so, stuff started breaking! Have had 3 or 4 service visits for both. Maybe we can cut back on some of that now.
  2. Looking for service tech in Virginia

Call Glenn Robb at 804.833.2110. He used to work for Advantage Sign Supply and knows the HP flatbeds. He is an awesome tech and has worked on our equipment as needed for 5 years. Tell him Scotty referred you and says hello. Good luck!
  3. L25500 Quality Issue

Just a quick caveat after I opened my big mouth... I think that is the standard mode we use on both machines for pretty much everything.
  4. L25500 Quality Issue

If you haven't figured it out yet, send me a PM or give me a call and I will link you up with one of my guys that run our L25500s. They do museum-grade stuff in 10 pass mode.
  5. customer wants .pdf what would you do?

I agree with those posters that say the problems can be avoided if you have a consistent policy and who owns what is clearly explained (in writing) in advance to your clients. I, like T3 prefer to keep it simple. We charge a fair price for design time (more than our competitors in most cases)...
  6. customer wants .pdf what would you do?

You really know how to get people fired up! I understand the position of most of the respondents to this thread, and respect their right to retain control of the artwork that they create unless a license fee is paid to use it elsewhere... I don't sweat it - if a client asks for the artwork, I...
  7. Double Sided Blockout Banner

We use the HP Durable Frontlit Banner - produce 96"x30" pole banners for the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, so you know it images well. It is also super-durable. Have not yet had a banner rip and most of the other banner materials we used had that trouble because of high winds downtown RVA.
  8. Fuji Acuity

Not following you... I am not aware of a Vutek flatbed. Are you referring to their Rastek (T1000)? The appeal of the Fuji to me is the quality of the output, the true flatbed, roll option (will take us from a max roll size of 5' to 7', and the speed is decent. It seems to me that I'm down to...
  9. Fuji Acuity

Thank you for your input! I'm glad to know I'm not the only person thinking about my business on a Saturday evening! We get into projects that require very high print quality, perfect registration, and white ink (think miniature pieces of artwork printed on a variety of rigid substrates). It...
  10. New flatbed digital- 110,000 sqft/hr

Ok... I realize this is an old thread, but 110,000 sfph got my attention. This machine prints on media at a rate of a jog - 5.68 mph!!! :)
  11. Fuji Acuity

Got a proposal on my desk for an Acuity Advance, 4 color + W with roll option - installed for $125K. It is a "refurb" demo machine, includes 1 yr warranty. I am meeting with them on Monday. I just got back from looking at the new CET flatbed with the Spectra heads (looking at 6 color + W). The...
  12. HP Design Jet L25500 Opinions?

We started using polyester and polypropylene films - PPM7 and a house brand for the polyester from Advantage Sign Supply. As for the problems - the heat would warp the films and we were getting head scrapes and full crashes (didn't take long to decide I didn't want to work too hard to try to...
  13. Best Value for Flatbed Printers

I met with David Cich (VP and partner at CET Color) yesterday. They have done some nice updates to their line that will be announced next week. I love their print spooler. Rip all your files in Production House and actually print from the spooler. Many of the tasks that you would have had to go...
  14. HP Design Jet L25500 Opinions?

We have two 60" L25500s and love them! We have had some challenges with a few types of media that we used to print with solvent ink (like 9 and 12 mil PVC), but I would never go back to solvent ink.
