And you talk about me making up things? You're assuming our shop is not up front about what is agreed to or not in a price quote. In this discussion I'm looking at it from the perspective of the original poster. If it was me I probably wouldn't be in that situation in the first place.
First of...
I'm not running for President. And I wouldn't do anything to make it easier for a bitter not-client to have a rival sign company or someone else working out of his garage to take on the project.
The other guys can start out as close to square one as I did. They'll likely already have something...
Customers cannot automatically claim any ownership of a sign company's production files. The original poster said the only thing the customer paid for was print work, not any design fees.
If a customer gave me a design idea (usually in the form of some crappy JPEG image) he would have no right...
If the client didn't pay for the design work and ties are being cut (for whatever reason) the client doesn't need to get squat. If he didn't pay for the files he doesn't have any right to them.
Make the next person he hires to print his cornhole boards do like what you had to do: start from...
Where is the finished sign going to be displayed? Inside the restaurant/bar or outdoors? If it's going to be mounted indoors and visible to patrons fairly up close I would use a wood panel and maybe even go so far as to seal the wood and hand paint the graphics on it. If the panel is going to be...
I thought the lettering in the attached sample might be Caslon Antique (aka "Casablanca Antique" for longtime CorelDRAW users). But that's way off. What the Font isn't delivering any matching IDs. Need help figuring out this one in order to duplicate some customer provided artwork. Thanks in...
I'm trying to figure out the identity of the typeface used in the attached sample. I have vectors of some of the artwork in question. Unfortunately I need the original source typeface because geometry issues require a new arrangement. I've scrolled through pages of square techno looking fonts at...
I don't like outright bans on any sign categories. LED variable message signs (aka electronic message centers) are a worthwhile upgrade to changeable copy cabinets, billboard faces and several other display types.
But the point is cities like Edmond, OK have gone well past just banning EMC's...
Graphic design and designing signs in particular takes a little more skill, talent and expertise than: "hold my beer."
But just about anyone thinks they can do graphic design work because just about anyone thinks "graphic designer" is a phony job anyone can do. It's not like being a diesel...
There is a couple of possible problems. What typeface is it and what format? Most of the fonts in the Adobe Fonts service are in OpenType format, but a growing number are available in OpenType Variable format. A few are even in OpenType-SVG (aka color fonts). As far as I can tell Flexi and most...
For a 2.3MB PDF I expected to see something more complicated. I placed it in Adobe Illustrator, did the Flatten Transparency trick to convert the fonts to outlines. I also ran it through Vector First Aid to delete any unnecessary clipping masks or groups and fix small issues with anchor points...
I would have to try out a new Frosty to experience the difference. I worked at a Wendy's location in Quantico, VA back in the mid 1980's. Frosties were definitely the "old school" variety then. They were great fresh out of the Frosy machine. They weren't so good after being "saved for later" in...
I've rarely ever eaten at a Wendy's restaurant since working at one for a few months back in high school. I learned how the chili was made for one thing. All the extra meat patties that would burn too long on the grill were re-used for the chili meat. The over-grilled patties would all go into a...
Just a late comment here regarding large-capital small-capital treatments, faked small capitals just suck. There is little excuse for anyone to keep doing faked small capitals. So many OpenType fonts have native small cap character sets, even the more recent versions of default Arial.
As much...
Acropolis-HTF is very similar, but not an exact match to the posted sample image. The "R" is different for one thing. The actual font could be some sort of knock-off of Acropolis with some minor changes made.
