There is no problem printing on canvas. With a good ICC profile and a good feed calibration canvas is not at all a material to cause problems when printing on it.

Once I used only 4 head ranks for 6 print-heads on the same printer. Still working fine after more then 2 and a half years. The head rank is.....important, but if it's not changed, you don't create a critical situation. DX4 solvent-based head ranks are different then the water-based ones.

As an ultimate solution :), try to replace the dampers, have you ever done that? They should be replaced from 6 to 6 months. If that won't solve your problem, for sure is going to prevent other future problems. :)

Please verify the print-head. Maybe has some dirt or something on it's surface. But if it's only yellow who's dropping, the you need to replace the dampers on yellow. The worst case scenario, if it's not the damper, might be the manifold. Hope that helps!

In my opinion(i don't know for sure), I think it's something with the position of the printing carriage. Initialize the limits (determine capping position). Hope that helps.

Between those two, I would go with MacTac. For the job you have I think is just fine and is going to be cheaper.
