    Sounds like you were removing a permanent adhesive not a removable. 3M is good but not the only product that functions in this application. Avery, Arlon, Orafol and others have perfectly good removable products.

    If UV or Solvent inks work and Latex does not, maybe the Latex printer is too hot and causing the problem. Plasticizer migration effects all coatings. Heat can cause plasticizers to migrate and it's more common with banner media than PSV. Most vinyl that is store appropriately should last 2 years.

    Marabu ink is also fine if the printer is not being used as often. Issues with third party inks are the result of inks that are not compatible or printers that are not properly maintained. Companies like Marabu, STS & Nazdar know what they are doing.

    There are high quality 3rd party inks like Marabu, that are plug and play with matching chemistry and color gamut. Having said that I am surprised to hear that the printer was loaded with 3rd party inks while under warranty.

    I believe what you are describing is Polymeric calendared which shrinks less than Monomeric.
