Sounds like the biggest problem is in the color. Change values to 100%K all the blacks that come in software is not that way. It does not print right.

I did a corvette front plate cover once in Chrome, it was a pain in the arse. I'd just paint it and be done. get out the airbrush and put a couple little high lights and make it look sharp. Then you could get $100.00 easy

Paint it is the best way to do it.
