agreed with iceman, each machine needs its own profile, period. If you make the same type of profile on each, they should print exactly the same. And yes, you need to reprofile seasonally (unless you are in a 100% climate controlled room year round)or after a major change like a head swap out...

just a thought, cut a black vinyl circle and stick it over the target, then try to read again. It's either not straight enough or the back target is the victim of just enough drop out. One or the other are just slightly out of the plotters variables. We use onyx and cut server all day every day...
it's entirely doable, directions vary based on your rip and the version you have.
But, if you switch from 6 color to 4 color and want predictable output, you either need to get your hands on a 4 color profile or make a 4 color profile.
