if that is the only issue can you download flexi cloud & take advantage of the 7 or 10 day trial . you can certainly have multiple versions on the same pc
for lettering trailers, buses etc, do what i did. go to craigslist & buy an inexpensive scissor lift. (i got mine from an electrician who was retiring.)

we had a similar issue with our SC545-ex, quite a while back.

i have a copy of flexicut 5.6 that we got in 1992 i think.
i used it with a gerber SMC4 (before the 4B) and the gerber LMK (lettering machine kit 9 pin serial interface)
so i may have you beat by a year (although i am sure you know more about flexi than i do)
if you are running aqueous ink, as suggested piezoflush is worth a try.
i have had very good luck with it.

we bought a chinese knockoff of the printhead doctor & added a heater to the design.
as i often tell people, the unit works better if you use it for routine...
because when they run out, they do not purchase more,
typically these companies chastise the manufacturer and say "you should buy enough in the first place"
i have not been following this one.
did we check very carefully that there is no (conductive) ink on the board(s) the ribbon cables, etc
everything should be very clean.
