  1. Aluminum Post and Panel System

Look at Sign Comp as well. Bunch of options.
  2. Question Reflective Vinyl Peeling

If you use a quality paint product (Grip Guard, Matthews, PPG, etc) you shouldn't have issues with paint not hardening to the point where you can put graphics on the next day. We are constantly painting and applying vinyl to panels the next day with no issues. Issues can arise if someone...
  3. Alternative Channel Letter Mounting Solutions

I would think your best bet would be to install the letters onto background panels. Build a mounting frame that attaches to the wall with a lot less holes than individual letters. You will end up with much better lighting as well. Also, they would only have a single point of power going thru...
  4. Backlit sign with metallic reverse lettering

You can absolutely make a backlit sign with a dark background. I assume you are referring to 'halo' illuminated RPC letters? Obviously the brightness of the glow around the letters is quite a bit less than a similar sign on a lighter color background, thats just the result of the dark color...
  5. Who makes the best UV LED printer for ada signs

Curious on where that info is coming from? I realize we are talking about California here lol so anything is possible.
  6. Suggestions Suggestions for an ADA Printer

We had a demo at Mutoh last month with a 661 UF. Impressive. Mutoh typically makes some quality machines and this one was no different. The ink set they are using has amazing adhesion. The customization they have created for Flexisign includes all of the different setups you will need to...
  7. Installation on glass covered facade?

I think I would much rather bond a new sign up then drill a bunch of holes thru those glass panels. GE makes a silicone adhesive specifically for bonding to glass panels. We mounted a bunch of rpc letters to some window by bonding some letter backs to the windows then clip mounting the...
  8. drywall primer paint and topcoat

Obviously they didn't clean and prep the wall correctly prior to painting. As was mentioned above, nothing can be done to increase that original paint to drywall bond short of removing the existing paint and doing it again with proper products. I would pass that one back to the customer to fix...
  9. Taking the next step in printers...

I would definitely look into a flat bed printer. We have had our JFX-200 for close to four years now. That machine was our first large format printer we brought in house. The printer has been really good to us. Easy to use, very reliable, ink is pretty scratch resistant and can print at a...
  10. Riv-Nuts

We buy in bulk now from rivetsonline.com as well. Great pricing on those and standard pop rivets.
  11. Need Help! Heavy office signs keep falling.

We usually install with standard black foam double sided tape, 1/16" thick and a few dollups of silicone for permanent bond. Also make sure to scuff backs of signs that do not have any texture to make sure you get a good bond, especially plastics. Sometimes those plastics have a release film...
  12. Is this REALLY how a sign cabinet should be built?!

Yikes. If there are multiple sign sections that house electrical components that aren't assembled together at the manufacturing facility then each section needs a UL label. Are rivets so expensive that it prohibits someone from using enough lol? They aren't sealed rivets either.
  13. Best way to do Day night or black during day white at night

Black perf on white is the way to go. The day night acrylic isnt very black during the day and isn’t very bright at night
  14. Best led modules power supply?

We have had really good luck with Mean Well, no issues and they have quite a few options for different size power supplies. Also have had good luck with the newer France power supplies.
  15. Stucco finish on aluminum panels

medium texture Montex. Our local sign supply shops stock it. Water based, sticks like mad, topcoat it with flat latex paint and looks great. We shoot it out of a drywall texture hopper. I would prime raw aluminum prior but if you scuff the white finish on dibond it sticks just fine.
  16. Need Help Mounting aluminum sign to glass door

We install custom aluminum and acrylic signs on glass windows and sidelights all the time. Install a piece of cast black vinyl the exact shape of the sign to the window first then apply the sign to the vinyl with normal two sided foam tape and a little bit of silicone adhesive. That way you...
  17. Brushed aluminum ACM outdoors?

The material has a clear coat finish on it so the aluminum won’t oxidize. That clear finish however will start to break down and chalk out after 3-4 years in Arizona at least. If we spray clear urethane over the panel and vinyl or printed graphics it will last quite a bit longer.
  18. Vision vs Gravograph Engraving Machines

We have had a Vision 16x24 for about 13 years I think? Thing has been an absolute workhorse. Only thing we have replaced on the actual machine are the drive bands for the motor. Keep the rails cleaned and oiled properly and it runs great. Would definitely recommend. We have a hand apply...
  19. Router, laser, or waterjet?

Best way to cut aluminum on a router is with mist coolant. Like it said before, our printed items are on aluminum composite so we don’t use a mister on that. We app tape to the sheet prior to cutting. One, it protects the prints from cutting chips, debris, and stacking when they are done...
  20. Router, laser, or waterjet?

We have a router and cut a whole lot of aluminum. Looking at individual feed rates you might think it is slow but you need to remember that if you set up files correctly the operator can be doing other tasks at the same time the machine is running. You need to run a mister system but it...
