  1. Advise on horrible customer

His Grandfather is the head of the company. He's 90 and I've seen and heard from him less and less. The grandson is the future of the company for sure. There are people within the company that I deal with on a daily basis but the grandson oversees most everything. He can be a decent guy but he...
  2. Advise on horrible customer

I am always willing to accept that I could have done something differently to result in a more positive outcome which is why I rarely ever act on impulse. I usually take a deep breath, step back and try to rationalize the situation and see if there's some truth to a customers negative reaction...
  3. Advise on horrible customer

Thanks you all are awesome and there's a lot of great advise to wrap my head around. This is definitely a situation where he's more than likely never heard the word "no" or "ill get to it as soon as I can". I do not doubt our service but things have taken a bit longer in the design department...
  4. Advise on horrible customer

We have had a financially amazing customer for 10 years now and for the most part things have gone smoothly until the last few years. The grandson of this particular company has become more of a dominant role and his attitude is getting worse. He treats his employees terribly and I've seen this...
  5. What is going on...is everyone so busy?

Busy here as well Stacey K. I think we're in the same state/region. I've never seen it like this really. Hiring some help, even part time, would help ease up on the stress. We're a 4 person shop and I was able to hire a couple of months ago and it's definitely helped me with all of the smaller...
  6. Opinions about World Wide Sign Systems...

I've used them for almost 20 years here in Wisconsin as well. Never had an issue. I pick all of my signs up however.
  7. Well, it's finally happening...

Other things to consider for full wrap first time. Pull the Rivets. On a trailer this size it will take a part timer 30 min to remove. Wrapping over them will take a considerable amount of time especially for the first time and you may end up with issues later that the customer won't be happy...
  8. Oracal 751RA anyone seen this?

No we're not printing. Just cut vinyl. It's in the adhesive side not on top of the vinyl and I can't tell if it's in certain spots on the roll until I apply it to something.
  9. Oracal 751RA anyone seen this?

We have a white roll and a black roll of 751RA from oracal and from what I can tell this is what is happening to just the black. Anyone else having this issue? I can't seem to clear it up with heat.
  10. Need Help Lines in prints

This looks very familiar to the issue I've had with my Roland RF. Technician diagnosed that it was a bad print head. He snapped a photo of the head close up and it must have struck something at one point.
  11. what causes these little drips?

This happens to us often as well. Usually when we neglect to do a weekly manual cleaning. Around the heads, dampers and wipers and it always clears it up. Whether it's from hair lint static or whatever, cleaning seems to do the trick.
  12. What was the smallest change you made in your business that had the biggest impact?

Just built our new shop and one of things I wanted to go along with our larger garage bay was an easy to use pressure washer so we bought an electric pressure washer connected to hot water. Not sure if the hot water will do any damage to it in the long run but It's been amazing being able to do...

Hi, Hmm I can't seem to remember what I had posted for this issue. This must have been quite some time ago. If we were using the XR 640 as a cutter, we no longer use it. We have a graphtec that we use as our main cutting machine. Sorry
  14. Printer Dilemma

Thank you both for you help!
  15. Printer Dilemma

I currently own (fully paid) 1 Roland RF 640 Versa Express which was purchased about 4 years ago and a Roland XR 640 which was purchased about 7 or 8 years ago. As of now, the print head on the RF is not good. It prints ok but needs to be replaced so this printer is for the most part taking up...
  16. Question Anyone know anything about "Inozetek" vinyl?

The wrap institute has some new videos if you're a member. I just finished wrapping a truck with a roll. A few things... -You can only purchase direct and you need to be an experienced installer to log in and purchase. They asked for several photos, Instagram, web site, facebook for proof. -20...
  17. Discussion Think Tank for sign makers. I wonder if there might be any interest. I am open for discussion.

I'm not sure if this is what you are referring to at all but anyway...I saw think tank and in reminded me of an idea that has been popping into my head over the last 5 years or so. As a small business owner with few employees and a desire to grow my business but still keep it organized and...
  18. We're using Claris FileMaker to track production internally. AMA

For the Most part this would be my workflow, probably for most as well. Is FileMaker worth just jumping into to test the waters or is it worth it to pay someone knowledgeable to tailor it to our needs?
  19. We're using Claris FileMaker to track production internally. AMA

Filemaker seems very interesting to say the least. However, I've watched some of the basic instructional videos just to try to figure out what it's all about and how it could be incorporated into my business overall and I feel like I'm in a calculus class and I can't follow basic math well. I'm...
  20. Need Help Deep contours on wraps

With Avery 1105 make sure to use 1460 overlam. It's better for these deep recessed areas.
