    The buildup was presumably from the head contacting the clamp and they've both been removed.

    That was it, thanks. I'm now wondering what the point of the clamp is if it gets deformed from regular use. I can't see it helping flatten problem material with it being that flimsy.

    My BN-20 is making a scratching noise while printing as the roll advances. It's coming from the left hand side of the machine. It only does this during printing; normal advancing of the roll does not produce this sound.
