  1. The most stunning architecture you've NEVER seen before...but you've heard it.

    Downright amazing. Enjoy, JB https://www.architectureinmusic.com/pages/gallery?fbclid=IwAR0VNqff5KOueFzeqxTNcnW33-wVkouBHZZ-D0W87HOZSJT8NdbHuwWEQSE
  2. It's more than just a statement under my avatar...

I'm blessed to have spent one of November's finest days helping my grandsons make connections I never knew as a boy. We drove past my childhood home, the elementary school I attended, and some of my favorite haunts as a young lad. The abundance of laughter and silly boyish humor helped me...
  3. So, my takeout pizza was not ready...

I walked in to Pizza Hut and didn't see my pizza sitting on the rack. And from all appearances it wasn't going to be exiting the oven anytime soon. So...I patiently wait fifteen or so minutes. I thought it felt unusually heavy carrying it out to the car. By my count, there were nearly 70...
  4. Anybody else see the Starlink parade tonight?

Around 8:41 pm EST (Hillsdale, MI) , I saw approximately 50 of the Starlink satellites fly over. One of the coolest things I've ever seen in the night sky. Perhaps your Internet connection was riding on them. https://www.starlink.com/technology JB
  5. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is outside the boundaries of journalistic professionalism...

Seriously, this is currently on the front page of the local newspaper web site www.hillsdale(dot)net. I removed the photo, but posted it further below. You've been warned. JB
  6. "You'll have to eat your chili with a fork": Managerial Failure 101

So, I was at that restaurant featuring the founder's ubiquitous red haired daughter. I had intended on getting a cup of their awesome (my opinion) chili, but they were running a special BOGO for $1 on their spicy chicken sandwiches, so I opted for that instead. The young dude in front of me in...
  7. Something fun for the rock garden... (I'll bet your CNC can't do this)

I've worked with CNC as a toolmaker since the mid 80s, and there's no way it could duplicate something like this. 16" River stone, reverse etched - approx. 3/32" to 1/8" depth. Sign vinyl stencil. Approx. 20 minutes blast time. I'm assuming roughly 90% of the stone's original surface was...
  8. What's (really) in a name?

Thirty miles west of me, a new entity went into the building of a defunct grocery store chain. Instead of curiosity, the owners have been met with an onslaught of criticism by what "Food Lab" really means. As you can imagine, it conjures up the typical ideas of Franken-food, since we live such...
  9. Amish circular saw....

Or is it a hole saw? I'm fairly certain they also make a right-handed version, but don't quote me on that. JB
  10. Did anybody else get a Signs 365 surprise?

At first glance, I thought FedEx had delivered a double set of large pizzas. But wowzers, was I ever surprised. I'm sure they spent a shiny dime (or two) sending all those out. JB
  11. Ink receptive vinyl - what makes it so?

I'm curious as to how the surface of ink receptive vinyl differs from vinyl that isn't ink receptive. Is it a microscopically "rougher" surface? Is it coated? Or does it have to do with the polymer matrices (having a more open structure)? Inquiring minds want to know. JB
  12. Need a laugh? I don't know, but maybe AI might help...

Since everything known to our generation is either being re-defined, re-named or re-imagined, what hilarity might ensue from the things with which we've been familiar? If this is any indication of what eventually gets fed into a massive database, then we're in for a real treat. JB
  13. Unbelievable beauty in the utilitarian....

Eons before the days of CNC, there was art nearly everywhere you looked. Oh how I long for days gone by. I believe the seller stated that it was from the early 1900s. But back then, the water heater used to be a kitchen appliance...so it had to look nice. Can you imagine working in the...
  14. 66 pound weight "loss" - in ten seconds.

I got the chance to use one of these today, and they're not just for injuries. Being 66 pounds overweight, I wanted to experience a glimpse ten months into the future, when I would be free of of my extra weight. In a span of ten seconds, I could change my weight back and forth between my...
  15. Out of the keg...and right back in. Who woulda thunk?

Heh...more than just the beer gets recycled here. You can't make this stuff up...or can you? Listed on marketplace for $300 each, minus the valves. Like soothing rain on a tin roof, I'll bet they make the most awesome sound (pardon, ladies)!
  16. Home Depot called....

Apparently, they want their cart back....:roflmao:. Only on Facebook marketplace. JB
  17. For those of us who grew up on vinyl....

Yeah, the vinyl with clicks, pops and white noise...skips and all. Well worth every bit of the eleven minutes you'll spend watching. I only wish there was narration for some of the steps. JB
  18. Doctor seems to think I have sex daily...

Sorry, that should have said "Doctor seems to think I have DYSLEXIA". Oh, siht! JB
  19. Favorite Thanksgiving memories?

I've come to like Thanksgiving the most, simply because there's not the pressure to brave the masses and spend. I sure wish I could spin back the hands of time and watch my gran prep the turkey. I'm especially intrigued by her petite hands...they were so strong. She didn't weigh 100 pounds...
