If you have Astute, you must have Adobe Illustrator. Could you please try opening your -- converted to .pdf from Uniconverter file -- in Illustrator, and see if it opens as vectors and not an embedded bitmap. You may be on to something...

I, too, have this same pattern on all the rolls of Oracal 3165 RA. I usually print on the 30 inch roll and laminate with Orafol Oraguard 210 glossy. You really have to look to see it so I have not complained. Seriously - every roll! Same pattern.

I have been chasing the "base" unit for edge lit signs for several years. There are some very expensive and nicely finished ones available thru Slee.com. Too $ for my clients. Let's see what other S101'ers come up with.
