Update: Moving on from this error/warning
It's been a while since I've updated on the status of this. I'm just now getting more time to work on this again. I was able to talk to a service tech about this issue and explained that I changed out the thermistor, even though the other one seemed to...
Update: "Temp too high" still not fixed.
I finally got the new Motsens Junction Board in. I got it installed and got the same "temperature is too high" warning. Again, according to the thermistor check I did from the service menu, this is from the ambient temp thermistor. The head thermistors...
Thanks for the suggestion. I won't rule out the head just yet, but here is why I think it's the ambient temp.
I entered service mode and went into the service menu. In there, there was an option for "thermistor check" so I did that. In there, there were 3 options, Head, Board, and Ambient. Both...
I founds the ambient thermistor which is the one reporting the high temperature. It's located underneath the display panel and plugs into the "Motsens Junction Board". Currently the temperature says 104F, so I disconnected the thermistor from the motsens board and restarted the machine. The...
This is the first error I've got that isn't a service call, so it seems like this one should be easy to fix. The ambient temperature is room temp, so that's not the problem. Seems like a faulty thermistor or something so I'll try to locate that and check the connections. Got any ideas what the...
Update: I fixed both problems!
Well I ordered a new Servo Board and and Stepdrive board. This set me back about $1100 total. I ordered both because the Stepdrive board fuse kept blowing every time I powered it on, so it seemed like this could be the issue. However, the manual suggested the...
Yeah, I'll say I had no idea how much work it was going to be either. I would agree that my printer would have been a terrible investment if I didn't end up learning how to keep it running. Obviously that doesn't work for everyone and it's not even something I enjoy doing. It's been a learning...
Start with the head soak because it's less aggressive. If that doesn't work, you should look to see if there are any instructions or tutorials on how to do the flush for your print head. For mine, I have a syringe and tube that came with the printer.
I don't know anything about this model, but I have a Compress UV 1200 printer that uses epson print heads. If I have a print head with nozzles I suspect are plugged, I'll manually push flush through the head with a syringe. It requires taking the print head out. Before doing that I would look...
Before giving up, have you considered working on it yourself? I've been posting to this forum about a printer I'm currently fixing (I'm not a service tech) hoping to provide some solutions to people with the same machine, or inspiration for people with other machines, and maybe if I'm lucky...
Well I don't know for sure, but that seems old to me. The ink I use for the UV printer I'm referring to expires at 1yr. Is the Cyan older than the other colors?
Thanks for the reply. To answer your question, I don't have any experience with the Roland UV printers. I developed quite a bit of experience fixing my small Compress UV 1200 printer out of necessity. It always breaks down and if you want to keep it running you have to do your own repairs. This...
Update:
I have a minor setback. I disconnected the ribbon cable for the connection from the UV Junction Board to the Print Carriage Board to see if I could reproduce the [E] in the left lamp like I see in the right lamp. My thought process was that if I could reproduce the error, then I could...
If you think of everything coming out of China as esentially being "stolen" (patent/IP theft, copyright infringements, slave labor, government subsized shipping, no industrial standards compliance, etc...), you realize that you don't have to sell stolen items for very much to make a profit.
Ok, this is the one service call I didn't want to get. But here we are. From the manual, here are the possible causes:
So, I was really hoping it was not the UV lamps. I got a quote on those for $8K. To test the lamp, I was able to enter service mode, then navigate the UV Lamp Menu, then do a...
Update:
I cleaned the sensor using IPA, cotton swabs, and lots of elbow grease to clean the optical sensor. After plugging everything back in, what do you know, it worked! No more "Service Call 0212" error.
Now, I still think the sensor is a little old and could be replaced. I contacted...
I got a "Service Call 0212" error message, and after reading the manual, I got nervous. Here are the possible causes listed for this error:
I got a quote for a set of new UV lamps for about $8K. Fortunately I don't think that will be necessary. I did some testing and from what I found, I think...
